NOT literally.
y (formerly known as x).

Surely it should be Ariston &on&on&on ?
Posted by Ariston (# 10894) on

You know, I didn't even know that was a washing machine company until after I got here. Plato's father? Sure. A strangely common name for small Italian hotels? Ditto. Something that clean? Woulda disowned it.

Because shortening your name to even more resemble the appliance manufacturer makes this soo much clearer.
BTW, This thread should be in Hell. I Hate the name changing. Now my responses shall have to be based on post content instead of preconception.

I shouldn't worry. All rebrandings ultimately fail - think Windscale/Sellafield.

I don't like it if I don't know who they were before but as long as there's a signature or a post on one of the two threads indicating the change I don't mind.

Ariston, here is a list of names that do not imply an unreasonable standard of hygiene. Personally, I quite like Grock or Popov.

That alone is nearly worth all this name change hassle.

Please don't forget the four line limit on sigs either. Your usual plus a name change announcement could push you over.

Name changes are fine if you need to correct a mis-spelling - I should know

Futurely Forgetting New Name
I am not a big fan of the name changes myself, but having sat out the name changing windows a couple of times for lack of creativity, I simply felt it was time. That, and people seemed to be actually thinking my IRL name is Martin.

Good! I never could remember how to do the superscript.

I rather enjoy a good Ship Shaking now and then myself. But I admit I am more of a watcher than a participator. Even in name changes, although I thought my name sort of silly at first, I grew into it, and now I use it all over the internet. If you run into another CuppaT, it's quite possibly me.

I was Paddy O' Furniture but now I'm not. It was funny for a little while but I got sick of it rather quickly. And, as I really AM the fifth Mary in my family, what better online moniker?

I'm not changing mine, I'm named after my lovely pooch who came from Battersea dogs home and lived with us 19 years. I think of him with a smile every time I log in.

I describe my teddy bear as being a porridge, because he's beige and squishy.
Are you beige and squishy?

I no longer have an underscore. It probably doesn't warrant an announcement. Was
considered using a capital letter somewhere, but i feel I don't warrant one. Probably this post is also not warranted.
Posted by Gwai (# 11076) on

It is a minor name change, but still a change, and the post is appreciated. Personally, I'd still put it in my sig too, so as to avoid testing how literal the admins feel.

A minor little change that most people won't even notice, but since my divorce is now final I dropped my ex husband's initial from my name. The timing of the name change amnesty was too perfect to resist.

Lack of capital letter. Now my blog name and ship name match.

I like knowing why people have chosen their names and if they've changed them why. Is there such a thread somewhere?

I imagine there have been several.
No harm in starting another though - for relative newbies. Maybe it would be a good time after the recent name changes?
