Do any churches still encourage and stock notes such as those by the Bible Reading Fellowship of Scripture Union to encourage daily reading?

I am preaching on ‘My sheep hear my voice' and want to encourage this practice but I not seen such notes, with subscriber’ names on them, for decades.

I know evangelical churches that use United Christian Broadcasters 'Word for Today' notes. I can't think why ...

I've not seen Scripture Union Notes for years.

I definitely know of churches that still have the Scripture Union Bible reading notes.

UCB notes - now those take me back! I know churches that have both as options.

In the US, the little books called Forward Day by Day, published monthly by Forward Movement, are popular in Episcopal circles. They have a short reflection on the lectionary readings from the Daily Office.

Of course a lot of their work has migrated to the internet, to social media and so forth, to be more accessible.

A small straw poll at our place. Most who use Bible notes do it via YouVersion.

Forward Day by Day was very useful for my dad in his later years. He'd read the lectionary and the notes in the booklet daily. His only problem with the process were all the psalm readings. He found them often annoying for the same reasons I like them: they are very human and emotive i.e. kinda bitchy.

A few people in our church order them, mainly I think Scripture Union notes. One lady has used 'Encounter with God' for some time: as her primary modes of learning are visual, musical, artistic, and crafty, I suspect they've played a part in leading her on to the diocese's 'Course in Christian Studies' and so on to applying to be a Licensed Lay Reader.

It's sad that there are so few that encourage daily reading.

The SU still seems to be the most polished and attractive.
