I'm sure Shipmates will enjoy this Fashion Show in Poland. Miss Amanda will especially like the footwear.

Yes, well, thanks for this (I think.... [Paranoid] ).

Some of the chasubles were quite splendid (especially the red one), but others were....er.... weird. What is it with the one festooned in fishing-nets?

(Oh - I will make you fishers of men, I guess).

I hope Miss Amanda will be warned to have her smelling-salts to hand, though.

Well, then... that proves to me that gay priests do not exist. Just camp ones. Some rather fetching ensembles, though (and "clergy")...

One wonders what Miss Amanda was searching for when she happened upon this!

It was sent to me by a friend. I knew it had to be shared with the Ship, and I thought of Miss Amanda when I saw the shoes.

Having seen the video, does any shipmate happen to know whether a Catholic priest is allowed to celebrate Mass wearing a boater?

Presumably the same rules as to biretta donning and doffing would apply.

The band around the boater to be of the correct liturgical colour, of course.

Much of the footwear was liturgically correct also, even if it wasn't of the same liturgically correct color as the chasuble being worn.

Gothic chasubles in full neon? The end of days is upon us.

Poland's ecclesiastical recruitment practices clearly have high standards in certain areas....

Indeed. Our Place has a rather nice lightweight pale green chasuble/stole (ideal for summer weekday services) obtained from Poland, via eBay, for the princely sum of £20 including postage.

I shall keep my eye on eBay in the next few weeks...

My first thought was that I could pick up two of those for twelve bucks at Big 5 Sporting Goods- emergency rain ponchos that are bright enough to let you be seen by drivers in gray, misty drizzle.

The chasubles or the models? [Ultra confused]

Miss Amanda may need to visit the Holy Rood Guild to make her confession and shop for vestments.

Miss Amanda has given voice to my thoughts. The Polish church is clearly richly endowed.

[lurks off to do appropriate penance for liturgy-related innuendo]

And it would appear that rich endowment is not limited to matters ecclesiastical.

[Miss Amanda will make a novena to St. Lucy.]

I am reminded of an occasion in my youth when I was invited to act as a server at a Divine Liturgy in the Ukrainian Catholic rite that for some reason was being held in our (Roman-rite RC) cathedral. The church was packed with young Ukrainians, and I have never seen so many good-looking people in my life. I was the one in a rather splendid vestment, but I felt like a swarthy pirate by comparison.
