Joke submitted by strathclydezero:
What's the difference between real Jesus and a picture of Jesus?
It only takes one nail to hang up the picture.

No, not funny. Again, if a joke tries to do without witty description and visually comic scenes has to be very clever and this one isn't. Jokes about the crucifixion also start way out in back-field in the funniness race and this one didn't even start.

I found this one tiresome and annoying. I do not find jokes about Jesus' being nailed to the cross to be funny in any case, and it further is a theme which has been done to death. I can picture boys, aged eleven or twelve, thinking this was a laugh riot, but it is too obvious - real school boy humour.

It shows some verbal wit. Not much. Cleverer than 'can you put me up for the night', so I scored it a 2. I think I was generous.

This one made me nearly laugh out loud. I think the quasi philosophical question drew me in to the silly, crude punchline.

So far, I'm one of only two people who gave this a five for funniness. I also gave it a four for offensiveness. It is one of those "laugh but feel slightly guilty about it" jokes.
Perhaps that is the appeal of certain types of jokes, you know you aren't supposed to laugh, which makes you laugh all the more.

I did like this joke, cheap but it works. I didn't find it that offensive really, but maybe I am just not that sensitive to these things.

This strikes me as another joke that Sunday School students would whisper to each other. In my fundie days, I would have been so horrified by it that I couldn't possibly find it amusing; it still seems kind of sick to me, and quite unsophisticated at the same time. I would put it in with dead baby jokes, and don't think it's all that funny for that reason. The religious aspect makes it even more offensive. I can't imagine who I would tell this to, if I thought it funny enough to repeat, which I don't.

I don't find jokes about the crucifixion at all funny. This is one of the most offensive ones I've read thus far, although I could see a not too terribly devout teenager or drunken university student finding it hilarious. (Very drunk).
Having seen The Passion of the Christ and found it realistic, I have some idea of what Christ's time on the cross was like. I once heard a lecture by a doctor about medical aspects of the crucifixion and it was apalling and very revolting. The doctor was a vascular surgeon and left out no details.

It's just not that funny. "Oooh look, Jesus was killed by nail...what else do we use nails for? Hanging pictures! Oooh think of the laughs people will get from THIS one!!"
