Ok so I moved to Melbourne. Now I want a meet. Is there any interested Melbourne people. Or maybe people who could make it to Melbourne.
Please place expressions of interest ideas here please.

Sorry Bronwyn, not able to get down there this time round. Lots on my pate at the moment.

Less and less on my pate lately, Loth - I think it's called "male pattern baldness"!

I'd love to have a meet but it will have to wait until after Easter as I am off to another Melbourne meet--in Derbyshire!

James I think I could wait till after Easter.

Post Easter week.... A maybe.... Will know in next few days.....
Posted by James the Confident (# 9678) on

Oh my, that'd be a meet to behold!

[tangent] thinking back on my first Melbourne meet I think James the C is the only one still around: AJ and the then visiting IngoB are on the other side of the world, Cusanus (though I am in touch on another forum) has left, another couple whose nommes de ship I can't remember have left, and I don't think the then LatA / Amazing Mavis was there that night (she was at the Byron Bay meet earlier that year, as was Rowen). I've been to at least one more in Melbourne since, when I think FD was present, too.

Zappa can you let C him know about the potential meet.
Remember a long time ago I tried to organize a meet but no other Melbourne people were on the boards in 1998 I guess.

I know I'm hopeless with keeping in touch with everyone on the Australian board, but I've been to a couple of meets in the past and would go again if I'm free when you have one.

Mili, it would be good to see you again.

You'd be amazed at the cobwebby old blokes we still have stored in these cupboards.

O oooh - bur are your still "a very long way away?" - really? Well not from me (as Jugs has indicated) but in general. Hmmm.

Post Easter I might be in Melbourne for work. Would love to meet up!
Posted by Bronwyn (# 52) on

Oh sorry hon forgot to let you know I was planning a shipmeet Ok just after Easter would be great.
Posted by James the Confident (# 9678) on
:
I could do post Easter too
Posted by Tilley (# 13687) on

I should be in Melbourne with DD post-Easter - school holiday time. DD gets a family holiday. I'm really doing it cheap!
Posted by Bronwyn (# 52) on

Ok so are people keen on a weekend say 14th April or does a weekday suit people in general. Happens to be a busy week for me that week but could manage to fit things in.
Posted by Mili (# 3254) on
:
I have my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary celebrations the evening of the 14th. I could possibly do lunch, but might need to help set up for the evening so I'm not sure. I'm free on Sunday though (church shopping at the moment so I'm flexible about what time I go to church that day).
Posted by Rowen (# 1194) on
:
I will only be there mid-week, sorry.... But don't let that stop you doing anything
Posted by Rowen (# 1194) on
:
Hmm, sorry, scrap that... I could do the post-Easter Saturday.
Would spend the Sunday driving to Canberra.

Ok lunch on the 14th with Rowen staying a few days before here. Canbera isn't too far I done it more than once. Any other thoughts??
Posted by Bronwyn (# 52) on
:
Ok the date is set(but not in concrete) any suggestions of venue and or numbers?
Posted by Rowen (# 1194) on
:
Had a chat with Bronwyn today, and we look forward to meeting the Saturday lunchtime, the week after Easter... so, details?
Posted by Mili (# 3254) on
:
Hopefully I can make it - still waiting for my family to sort out the details for my Grandparents' 60th anniversary celebrations that evening. It depends how much needs setting up and what time I need to be there.
Posted by Bronwyn (# 52) on
:
Ok does anyone have an idea of where I am a bit out of touch of great places in Melbourne nowadays. I will make a list soon of attendees.
Posted by Bronwyn (# 52) on
:
Does anyone want to be a little different and go to lentil as anything? I have been to the Abotsford one a few times as I have vegetarian family. Also quite reasonable (pay what you think meal is worth). Lentil as anything.

Fine by me
Posted by Mili (# 3254) on

Still not 100% sure if I can make it or not, but am happy to go to Lentil as Anything if I do. Are you planning on going to the Abbortsford franchise?
Posted by Bronwyn (# 52) on
:
That is the big one I think not sure where people are coming from but it would be my preferred.
Posted by Bronwyn (# 52) on
:
Ok in the absence of protests I propose the following 12:30 at lentil as anything Abbortsford. I am toying with the idea of a trip to the children's farm next door afterwards if Miriam behaves. Other people welcome Sean said he will come so far we have
Sean Bronwyn Miriam Rowen confirmed will pm others to see how this pans out.

I will now be hiding among packing boxes, covered in sticky tape and bubble wrap. Moving day the following Monday! But I'll be in Melbourne the following weekend.
Posted by James the Confident (# 9678) on

I do believe I can be there, I may have a friend with me.
Posted by Bronwyn (# 52) on

Excellent James Plus 1 will love to catch up again.
Posted by Bronwyn (# 52) on
:
Tilley hope we will catch up another time. Feel free to pm me if you are around.
Posted by Mili (# 3254) on

My family still isn't sure on the setting up details for Saturday night - hopefully I will know if I can make lunch by tomorrow! My family have many talents but communicating in order to organise events isn't one of them! I'm pretty sure everything has been organised but just don't know if they need extra hands to set up beforehand.
Posted by Mili (# 3254) on
:
Yay! I can come for lunch. Probably won't be able to stick around for the children's farm. I loved the visit my family made when I was a kid. I wonder if they still have the giant fluffy bunnies? I'm always reminded of those rabbits when people talk about fluffy bunnies here on the ship.
Posted by Bronwyn (# 52) on
:
Can't wait.
Posted by James the Confident (# 9678) on

My car is broken*, I can't come!
* I live in a rural area where public transport is not really a dream, it's a nightmare!

Thanks Bronwyn for organising the meet. What a lovely lunch. Hopefully we can catch up with James the Confident and others who couldn't make this one another time.
Posted by Mili (# 3254) on
:
Oh, and as they no longer have giant fluffy bunnies at Collingwood children's farm, I google some photos of Angora rabbits. Giant Fluffy Bunnies.

It was a great meet... I enjoyed meeting Milli, catching up with the others, and the place and food itself.
Thanks to Bronwyn...

No thanks to mili and Rowan for coming. It was a great time although Miriam and Sean took a walk rather than Miriam running amuck. Love ship meets was really sad James
