My other half discovered a mug on a garden shop site. It is decorated with some plant life and the words 'The Weeder'!
Naturally, one was immediately ordered.
Has anyone else found a Ship name in unexpected places?

Apparently there is a restaurant in Espanola, NM named after me. I got this picture on the interwebz, but I know the place is real because Motherboard and JB sent me a postcard from there.

Not really a name thing--not directly-- but I do wonder how many of the Ship's young 'uns are going to grow up thinking that the word for "penguin" is "Smudgie" based on their parents shouting that every time they see one.

I really thought for a while that the Quine in your name was a reference to the philosopher, W.V.O. Quine. You never know on these boards.

I chose my screen name LeRoc referring to this pirate. Only afterwards I discovered that it is also a form of modern jive that's being danced mostly in the south of England. I find this rather funny.

Thanks, LeRoc - the Wikipedia page about your Dutch/Brazilian pirate mentions Against All Flags, which is an Errol Flynn/Maureen O'Hara film that I haven't got! Now I'll have to track it down.

Good luck finding it
A fun thing is that this film takes place near Madagascar, while the real Roche Brasiliano operated in the Caribbean. I guess the writers took some artistic licence.

The chances of my ship name turning up somewhere are low. However, I do wish to report that there used to be a restaurant/bar here in New York called The Ship of Fools. We had a shipmeet there once. Sadly it is now closed.

I was not really expecting to find anything out there when I googled Banner Lady but.... THIS could blow the speakers in your car if you turn it up loud enough.
If I was proudly American I might own this ...but I'm not.
So I guess that leaves a humble bit of cartooning.

I am not gonna provide a link to this, but I think the most alarming thing I found connected to my name was a website dedicated to a Brazilian transvestite porn star.
I hope to meet her sometime, so we can share some cafezinho and have a laugh.

I think that's a compliment! But no, there's nothing clever or philosophical about my Board name.
Here's the song on Youtube (start at 3:52). Mind you, I think people would be more likely to pay me to keep my clothes on in Inverurie.

There used to be a Brighton-based 6 piece all-girl rock band called Jack the Lass, but they seem to be defunct now. However, I was rather pleased while googling just now to find Roaring Jack - The Lass Behind the Beertaps instead.
There's also a couple of YouTube links titled jack @ the lass, but he's a pub singer and a bit over-earnest for my taste.
