Really?
Words fail me.
He says:
“The Bible is against it". No it isn't. Not as much as it is against hatred, hurt, and fuckwits claiming the power of God to promote their own agenda.
"God is against it". Maybe your God. Not mine. But then, I don't worship a fucking bastard like you clearly do.
"I’m against it". Then I'm almost certainly for it. Turdblanket.
"and if you’ve got any sense you’re against it” If you've got any sense, you will ignore this fascist bitch and anything else he has to say.

My God is against death camps and pastors who spew hatred from the pulpit and pass it off as Him speaking.
The pastor who encouraged members to "beat the gay out of your kids" is also from North Carolina. Must be something in the water there. I don't think I'd want to live there.

He is not alone. The congregation did not seem to be booing, or marching out in protest.
I think it is important to understand how these otherwise normal, church going, people came to this point. If we can understand their thought process, maybe someone can help them understand where they have gone with their hatred and how much God would not approve.
Are they convinced the LGBT community is out to get them? Who might be telling them that?
The ability of humans to hate and despise anyone who is different truly makes me despair.

Well, exactly. And surely any group of men or women placed in isolation would eventually die out due to the inability to reproduce, whether they're rounded up because they're gay, fat, architects, left-handed, or whatever. His point makes no sense.

Surprise, asshats! Sure, the genetic line of people who don't (or aren't allowed to) reproduce will die out, but I bet you your cold and shrunken little hearts that you, yourselves, are breeding more fags, queers, dikes, lezzes, and various other perverts as we post and will do forever unless you commit to celibacy. The kidlings just won't tell you about it. Or they will and then they will leave you forever to either hate or mourn, whatever your pleasure.
Eat nails, bastards.

It makes perfect sense to bigoted fucktards. He's preaching to his audience (see Tortuf post upthread). Of course none of the umpteen hundred present can possibly be LGBT.

Maybe he imagines all the 'disgusting' things homosexuals do - often and in detail - just to make sure it really is wrong!

Tortuf - I know perfectly well that in some strands of evangelical churches ( probably others, but that is all that I know ) that the pastor/minister/vicar is always right. The purpose of the congregation is to boost the pastors ego.

A 150 mile fence? Why, there's no way that one of them homosexuals, queers or gays could drive or hike around it!
Not to mention:
If the defining characteristic of openly gay people (i.e. the ones that we'd be able to detect and put behind the kinda long fence of doom) is that they do not willingly engage in sexual activity which can lead to reproduction, what does it matter whether they're in a camp or in their natural habitat?
If your goal is to stop gay people from having gay sex, locking them all up together with other gay people of their own sex isn't exactly the best plan to stop that.

I think he meant a circular fence, 150 miles in circumference.
He's obviously despicable, but I sometimes doubt if these far-right preachers and shock-jocks really believe all they say, or whether there's a sort of cynical contest on between them to see who can be the most outrageous while keeping the support of the morons who pay any attention to them.

I thought of that when I first read this thread. I accused myself of schadenfreude and couldn't think of a witty way of posting about it. You did that!
There is something curiously 'protest too much' with such people, and in his case, protest way far too much.
I noticed the church's website is down which encourages the schadenfreude.

He probably believes homosexuality is hereditary.
Unless he can discern all of the closeted homosexuals, gays in denial, and heterosexuals with the potential to pass on "gay genes" to their kids, I don't see how that makes a difference. After all, because homosexuality is hereditary, gays got here because someone with those genes had heterosexual sex.
Homosexuality being hereditary, the best hope for those who wish for gay genes to be bred out is to encourage homosexuals to acknowledge their sexuality without condemnation and couple with members of the same sex.
However, I doubt Pastor Jimbo even knows what 'hereditary' means.

The Concentration Camp Pastor got some attention from CNN, and a blogger noticed he also used the same sermon for electioneering, which is an IRS no-no if you want to retain your tax-exempt status. She started a letter writing campaign to bring this to the attention of Vincent Fusco, the IRS' Tax Exempt Organization Manager for the Mid-Atlantic Region.
On a possibly related note, the church's website now appears to have been completely taken down.

I've already commented on Dead Horses about how incredibly dumb this is. I haven't yet met a gay man who has homosexual parents. I'm sure they EXIST - and in fact I have met a gay parent who was in the closet years and didn't come out until after one of his sons had come out - but all the gay men I know had straight parents.

Point of order: Yes, they can be different.
Of course, the difference is fluid and mostly (but not always) one of self-applied labels relating to gender as opposed to sexual orientation, but I'm sure the gentleman* from North Carolina wouldn't know a queer if I walked up into his face and said, "Boo."

Doesn't matter, everyone* knows homosexuality is a choice. God would not make fags, seeing as he hates them.
Lock up existing homosexuals, punch your children so they do not become homosexual. Then, perhaps, all these wars will end.

I think I've got homophobic southern pastor fatigue. It just doesn't seem shocking anymore when one of these pastors lets loose a stream of hatred. I'm more shocked - and frightened - when an apparently *ordinary* person does it. Like the friend's boyfriend who sincerely said that, were he to have a son, he'd rather that son grew up to be a murderer than a homosexual.

Back in the 80s, at my old happy-clappy church, one woman, who had a son who was 2 or 3 at the time, said that he would definitely not grow up to be a homosexual, because she'd prayed that he wouldn't. He must be in his 20s now. It'd be interesting to know if he did end up batting for the other side, and how she explains her unanswered prayer if that's the case.

That's not a sensible thing to wish for. I've read that 16% of victims are related to the murderer in the US and I think it's an even higher proportion in the UK.

On March 12, 2012, the hashtag #ToMyUnbornChild became a trending topic. People used this hashtag to "tweet to" their future child. Here are 100 real tweets from real people — all within 24 hours — saying they would murder their child if he or she was gay.
So not only are there parents who would prefer their kids be a murderer than a homosexual, there are parents who would rather murder their kids themselves than let them live as gay. And they're willing to admit this publicly, to strangers on the internet.

But then the bias against gays runs into all sorts of logical problems, as much of the bias is based on the notion of choosing to be gay, rather than being born that way.
Not that I think a little bit of difficulty in logic would stop the kind of people who threaten to kill their own children... *goes to throw up again*

Yeah, because nobody ever says crazy shit for comic effect on the internet. Looking at some of the avatars of the people posting those tweets, half of them are schoolkids.
You might as well trawl through the Hell archives for 100 flames and use it in a blog post demonstrating how evil and violent Christians are. I doubt it. Dr. Ian Paisley once described Pastor Jack Glass, a Glaswegian preacher of the Orange persuasion as 'A bit of an extremist'. It didn't stop them sharing platforms or alter Paisley's views.

And from the vast fields of Kansas comes another option:
quote:
If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. They should be put to death. 'Oh, so you’re saying we should go out and start killing them.' No. I’m saying the government should. They won’t, but they should. You say, ‘Oh, I can’t believe you, you’re horrible. You’re a backwards neanderthal of a person.’ Is that what you’re calling scripture? Is God a neanderthal, backwards in his morality? Is it His word or not? If it’s His word, he commanded it. It’s His idea, not mine. And I’m not ashamed of it. He said put them to death. Shall the church drag them in? No, I’m not saying that. The church has not been given the power of the sword; the government has. But the government ought to [kill them]. You got a better idea? A better idea than God?
So it would be ludicrous to suggest Christians want to kill gays. They just want government death squads to do it for them!
Keeps their own hands clean that way, I guess.
And let's not forget the contributions of the junior division. The church in question has been identified as the Apostolic Truth Tabernacle in Greensburg, IN. I'm sure this incident is just a pure coincidence.

Any fucker who opens their mouth and asserts in this way that the Bible says something in English is ALREADY playing loose with the truth. I'm occasionally tempted to go learn Greek and/or Hebrew just so that I can respond by telling them what the Bible REALLY says.
