Following on from the creative meet last year we are proposing a meet at our house in Derby where you can help us to cook and eat an interesting barbecue / summer party in the afternoon and evening. We have plenty of room and a big garden. We can offer limited accommodation too.
Anyone interested?

We had a brilliant time last year!

Hmmm. A barbecue seems like a perfect way to mark the end of the Apostles' fast! [Big Grin] It would also give me the opportunity to visit a parish to which I keep being invited but haven't yet been able to get to. Yet it falls on the last weekend before our patronal feast and I'm heavily involved in the planning. That will be my last chance to liaise with people before the big day.

I'd like to come and meet you all but I'll have to have a bit of a think.

Thank you, geroff, for inviting us to your home.

For those who might want to come we live here in the north of Derby.

Yes, please. And lets hope the weather is a bit warmer and a lot drier!

Posted by Masha (# 10098) on :

Also yes please!

I will finally make it to a meet. [Smile]

Echoing above - thank you for inviting us to your home.

Provisionally yes- I shall only just have started in parish so may have events I don;t know about but at the moment I think I'm ok

Sadly that date falls in what will probably be one of the busiest weekends in my year with the largest number of clashes in my diary imaginable. So although for once I know I won't be working that weekend, I also know we won't be able to join you. Hope you get a good number of people there, though, and have a fabulous day.

Sorry, no, it's our Town Festival, which includes opening the church tower that I've said I'll help man and goodness knows what else.

Posted by geroff (# 3882) on :

Jante - we hope you can come - you should be able to get a few hours off in the early days.

I have just realised that I have a baptism at 3 pm (yep, I know...) so won't be over until 5 - 6pm. Is that still OK?

Posted by Rosa Gallica officinalis (# 3886) on :

That's fine St Everild. We'll still be here.

I'm sorry to report that I almost certainly won't be able to be at this meet. Immediately after my parish's patronal feast is the patronal feast of the lower church of our cathedral in London. My bishop will be serving. For this, and another more discreet reason I do have to be there and doubt I'll have enough pennies for three longer-distance journeys within the space of a week.

I'm quite disappointed but hope that I can perhaps make it to another.

bump...
We have just returned from our wonderful holiday in (very) sunny tuscany and so we will be thinking about what we will be doing for food etc.

Posted by St Everild (# 3626) on :

Let me know what you'd like me to bring!

2 meets in 2 days...woo-hoo

I have just noticed that the the Derby Real Ale festival is on the same weekend.
Will this increase the take up for this weekend?

Tickets booked arrive Derby 11.05 from Birmingham. Train home leaves derby 21.44.

It is just possible that Mr St Everild will decide to come...he' s not at ease with meeting lots of strange people/bunch of axe murderers off the Internet, but you never know. I'll let you know before we/I set out...

Posted by geroff (# 3882) on :

Excellent.
I have actually managed to mow most of the lawn, so at least we won't loose any small children. [Eek!]

We are both intending to come...will be over later after I've been to a Baptism at 3pm.

And praying that this rain will stop...

Posted by geroff (# 3882) on :

No rain yet.
A lot of food being prepared at the moment. The barbecue has made it to the garden whilst the storm clouds move in. The rain is obviously waiting until we actually light the barbecue. [Roll Eyes]

Which it did quite well. Rained all the time for cooking, and then in the later evening it was lovely again! And today was nice weather as well...

Anyway, apart form the weather it was a lovely meet / weekend in Derby. Was good fun catching up with people and enjoying food and beer!
