I'm thinking of having a day out sometime next week to Aberdeen, just to do the tourist thing, and was wondering if anyone was around and wanted to join me. At the moment I'm fairly flexible on which day I go, was thinking of a day time meet. [ 18. August 2012, 05:52: Message edited by: Welease Woderwick ]

I can come into Aberdeen any day. However, I have to be elsewhere on Wed afternoon.

If you asked one nicely, do you think Prince Philip would join you?

Saturday works for me. What sort of tourist thing do you want to do? Museum stuff? Wandering around sight-seeing stuff?
Anyone else?

Tickets booked. I get to Aberdeen at just before 11am, and need to get the train back from there at 5:30pm. I'm happy to do whatever, but I like historical type things. Was also thinking we could go for lunch somewhere.
Where do people want to meet, I'll need somewhere fairly easy to find!

Yes, they're all central and within 5 mins of each other.

Robin, will be great to meet you.
Is meeting at the front of the railway station at 11am on Saturday the best plan, if not does someone Aberdeen based want to suggest where we meet?

Has anyone PM or emailed cattyish? She's usually up for a meet if she's not away/otherwise occupied and I guess she hasn't seen the thread...

I'll keep an eye on this thread as I may have a visitor or two next weekend. If I can make it I'll try to drag along my never-posting shipmate flatmate.
All of NEQ's suggestions are good ones - Books and Beans often appreciate a heads-up (ie we have been mildly chastised previously) for groups. I do like a good shipmeet.

The front of the railway station at 11am works for me. However, there are two interpretations of "front of the railway station" - inside Union Square shopping centre or the taxi rank - so perhaps "inside the railway station" instead?
Full of chips is another possible attendee.

The railway station has only one entrance (as far as I'm aware), so I'm happy to lurk within the station, near the entrance, from a few minutes before 11:00am. I'll aim to wear a fawnish-coloured sunhat, provided I don't lose it between now and Saturday.

Do we want to go to Books and Beans for lunch? (Have to say I liked the look of it.) As far as the rest of the day is concerned, quite fancy a wander round Provost Skene's House, but am happy to be out-voted.
Can I suggest that we go with Books and Beans, I'm happy to phone Friday afternoon and book it, so would need numbers by then. People could either meet at 11am at the station, or 1pm for lunch? Does that work for everybody?
Some of you already know me, for those who don't, I'll be the one with a red rucksack, carry a rubber duck!!

Count me in for lunch at Books & Beans! (Have also sent a PM, but I thought I'd better add an entry to the thread as well, pour encourager les autres.

Surfing, our home internet connection has gone caput (sending this from library) so texting is better than pming me just now, if you need to get in touch.

daisydaisy, why wouldn't they let you take the latte on the train?

Great to see you all, albeit briefly. Sorry about my lateness due to car issues.
Surfing Madness, if you did want to come and stay, just pm me and we could plan something. I have got a spare bed, and our countryside is pretty.
