I appreciate that it's a bit like shooting fish in a barrel with a .50cal, but fuck me, Bean, you can't even spell feminazi properly, let alone realise that you've manage to insult almost the entire church you belong to - almost every bishop and a vast majority of the clergy and a significant majority of the laity - with being card-carrying members of the Third Reich.

Ender's Shadow probably doesn't use the best term, but his term makes a valid point from where I sit - the actions and speech of a vocal/becoming rather influential minority of people in the vote resembled an uncaring and almost vaguely totalitarian position - all the discontents need to be knocked down and any theological safeguard removed as it was not equal enough for when Women Bishops came into existance - and from where I sit in the pew it looked like revenge and crass pettiness on their part as well, especially since there has now been the drip-drip of rhetoric that indicates that that group will push even harder at having no feasible solution for the consciencious objectors in the issue, something which really is a lack of Christian love to fellow Brothers and Sisters and vindicitve retaliation...

The purpose of labelling a vocal minority is the contrast in opinion with the silent majority, not merely the contrast between 'vocal' and 'silent'. The entire goal of the phrase is to say "you're the noisy viewpoint but you're not the majority viewpoint".

When a minority (ie those that don't want to give any safeguards) that may share a vaguely common view with the majority (ie those supporting the CoW) also want to do something slightly different within it which is not what hte amjority view is (ie the CoW with some safeguards) and are rather vocal about it (ie. come out and say what their point of view is - especially now the last vote has been and gone) results in a 'vocal minority' from within the majority! - just because I support the CoW does not mean I share the same views on achieving that goal with everyone else who desires to see the CoW... Even within the overall majority there are minorities who disagree on how things should be done but consent to the greater plan as it is because it meets the greater of their desired goals, they can be described as a minority even though they are part of the majority!
I've not invented or misused a term, mearly applied it to a group of people that fit the description rather well and as I've said from where I sit in the pews watching they are acting badly towards their fellow Christians out of pettiness and revenge.

I'm rather enjoying watching men argue about whether I have the same rights they take for granted, and then whine when there's the possibility they may have to share.
And for some reason every time I see "vocal minority being persecuted" in regards to those protesting equal rights, what my brain translates it to is "thugs and bullies desperate to maintain a status quo that grants them all the power and privilege".

I think he does, but I also think that the word of God trumps the doctrines of feminism, sexual equality etc; anyone trying to argue the case on the basis of those is onto a loser, hasn't thought the issues through and loses a lot of my respect.

There are few attempts to treat some human beings as being more equal than others which haven`t been baptised at some point. Projecting the sexism onto the deity and then pretending your hands are tied and you no longer have to consider the justice or injustice of what you do is a cop-out, and the same one that the Pharisees took. The challenge is convincing people that the backlash is a good thing that will benefit them in the long run--which is what I believe. I guess another way to put it is that people who resist it are only hurting themselves.

I think the movie "Calendar Girls" helped change that perception, a bit. Each was beautiful in her own way.

That was a British film, with British actresses. I suspect the Hollywood moguls wouldn't do something similar, even if the actresses would. Hollywood seems more hung up on youth.

No one is being automatically labeled as bigots. They're being labeled as bigots as a consequence of expressing bigoted opinions. This doesn't seem entirely unfair.
Just to remember:

- Feminazis: Want women to be regarded as fully human and equal members of society.
