This is the thread for the giving of thanks not just to God but to those people and organizations that have influenced our lives for good whether momentarily or over the longer term.

All that we have comes from God, may we all be faithful in giving thanks.

I am thankful that after going to A&E and spending 2 days in hospital and having CT scans and MRI etc my Dad has an inner ear problem that has been causing his lopsided vertigo. TBTG it wasn't a stroke and he should make a full recover fairly soon.

Giving thanks for my neighbour, who heard me howling through the wall (in between throwing up) and called the out of hours doctor - who called the ambulance.
The ambulance man was lovely, calm and reassuring - and I'm now fine (if a bit wobbly).

Two years ago I didn't expect to see even the end of 2010. So, TBTG and to all the pray-ers cruising on SofF and in several churches hereabouts. Also to Morladres and all the medical people involved.

The meds finally kicked in after almost 3 weeks. The wheezing has disappeared at night. (Darn wheezing kept me awake for nights on end). Now, if I can get my energy back, I'll be happy. [Big Grin]

My Dad has a place ready at the nursing home that my Mum has found for him.
It's very close to their home and Mum is so happy.
He'll leave hospital on Monday. [Yipee]

Thanks for friendship after an evening spent with some one I've known since I was 11 - that's getting on for fifty years now! Don't see her often as she is in Australia and I'm in England, but it's great when we do get to meet up.

As we speak Elder Daughter still has her job but half the staff at HQ have lost theirs [Frown] . The administrators are trying to keep the firm going as a whole as it's making a profit but burdened with colossal debt. Let's hope for a buyer who wants to keep it going as a whole.

More [Big Grin] is that the firm Mrs Sioni works for is opening a branch where Elder Daughter lives, so if she can get her CV in, she might get a Deputy Manager position there.

Well, we have some major news that is very praiseworthy - we posted on the Prayers thread that this was, hopefully about to happen - but we'd like to announce the safe arrival, and placement with us, of Baby Spouse Ferretovsky. He was obviously in a hurry to meet us, as he was born just over 3 weeks early, but he is very happy and healthy (and quiet!), and we are currently waiting to travel home with him.

Happily this waiting period should also include introducing him to his first shipmate (other than us of course!) as we are travelling to get his passport and happily to the same city as a Greenbelt regular (we'll keep the name of the city/shipmate quiet for the moment if that's OK).

My dad is at home now from the adult care, healing from a broken/fixed-up femur. And KC got her stuff out of my condo yesterday. I AM SO THRILLED ABOUT THAT. (Long story short, her stuff was piled up there for over 1 year).

I am happy to be able to post an update from my friend Richard, who was arrested in Zambia, charged with stealing his own property:
today I received my discharge from the High Court as the Drug Enforcement Agency withdrew the case. Hardly a surprise as they admitted to me several times they had no evidence. That also triggered the release of my vehicles, computers etc.
He added
So just over 9 months of this nightmare have come to an end. Police cells, prison, court appearances, threats of deportation, death threats, loss of personal possessions, three robberies etc etc. but what I'll remember is the extraordinary friendship and kindness I've received from ordinary Zambians. i'll never forget what my Zambian friends did for me. I would often get stopped in Mchini compound, or in town, by people I didn't know, and they would tell me how they were praying for me. Fantastic (although I began to wonder if the prayers were the CAUSE of the problems, being an atheist!).
However, he did have this to add
But I will never forgive the people who did this to me, because it was driven by personal greed, by people who were already earning good salaries. The fact that they are all members of a small charismatic church run by a lying despot, merely aggravates the issue

So maybe I can ask for additional prayers that his view of Christianity which has been somewhat blackened by this experience might be softened...

But in general, thank God that (finally) this whole terrible unjust mess has been resolved.

Good news on my son-in-law Billy's front: This man who, just a month ago, was literally at death's door, just walked 75 feet down the hospital corridors! He's responding well to treatment, says he's feeling much better (we can actually talk on the phone...he can actually call us, which he's been doing every single day at least once!), and may soon be going home and continuing rehab there. His bloodwork seems to be continuing in a good direction, and I think we're waiting on one more lesion biopsy, but the others have turned out to indicate benign causes. We are all so grateful for this progress.

Good news on my front: My new CPAP machine seems to be easing my sleep AND giving me more energy and mental clarity during the day. It's still an adjustment, going to bed with this contraption...but it's worth it to be healthier overall.

I usually give thanks and praise for things on the Prayers of the Faithful thread because they usually relate to things i've been praying for. But I've got alot to be grateful for.

I'm undergoing treatment for metasticised melanoma, something that was pretty much a certain death sentence a few years ago but for which I am being treated by something the FDA only approved last year which has shown good promise. Not only that, the treatment has no noticeable side affects. I feel great and grateful to be able to plan for the future. And knowing how people suffer under cancer treatments makes me feel incredibly blessed.

And i feel greateful to have a health plean since each of the 4 treatments costs $30,000 apiece.

I am single with no genetic relative where i live, but i am blessed with a wonderful non-genetic family which is every but as much of a family as a genetic one.

I feel blessed to have found my way/to have been led to the church home where i am today -- doors have been open to me and i feel it's no coincidence that i have been led there at this point in my life.

Thank God for successful heart surgery on five-month-old Alyssa, the granddaughter of a good friend. Alyssa was born with hypoplastic right heart syndrome; the right side of her heart was so underdeveloped that it was non-functional.

It is not possible to do anything about the heart itself, but blood vessels can be re-arranged so that the blood which flows to the body is oxygenated. She had emergency surgery when she was a few weeks old; the latest surgery is half of a permanent fix. She will have another surgery in about eighteen months, but the one she just had is the biggie. She was home from the hospital in less than a week.

We are all grateful to God and to the skilled doctors and nurses who took care of her.

For the lovely people at the hospital who were so accommodating when my van wouldn't start for my daughter's appointment - first I cancelled then I managed to borrow a car so they re-booked me at the last minute on the end of surgery! For the lovely doctor who was so compassionate and honest with my daughter and for the good old NHS (which may be far from perfect but which is amazing nonetheless).

For a sense of peace in the middle of stress - thank you.

My prayer was posted on my blog since there I can be verbose. In a nutshell, I am highly insecure at any job due to how I was treated a few job-companies ago. I was fearing my boss was unhappy with my work and started to freak out.

I posted on the prayer thread for prayer and that prayer was soon answered. My boss yesterday took me in his office and expressed how happy he is with my work - even though we discussed my lack of Martha Stewart-ness in the booth help. He made it clear he appreciates me.

I will know make a verbose blog post. But just wanted you to know that info. [Smile]

We had a most excellent Sunday School this morning, during which the children's sporting ability and spiritual wisdom far and away surpassed my own. We then had the first ever meeting of our brand new, shiny little contemporary worship group. Lovely, uplifting and tuneful.

I have been w*rking five and a half to six and a half days a week for several weeks: this is a good thing, as my wife is a graduate student and we do not wish to exhaust the moneys from her student loans before she signs a teaching contract and commences drawing a salary at the end of summer. Thankfully, I have the entire day off on Saturday: we may even go to see a film!

In two days it will be two weeks since son's back operation which was more extensive and complicated than foreseen.

He's just rung me. I haven't heard him so upbeat, hopeful and animated in probably a year. The agonising leg pain has gone, the operation site is sore but healing well.

He's walking around every half hour and taking three 20 minute walks outside a day which are helping loosen muscles which have been tight for 15 months. He's still being very careful with movement but at least he can move.

Best of all he's off all forms of morphine and the other medications which were clogging his brain. He takes ibuprofen if needed and at night so he can sleep.

Than you so much for prayers.

TBTG and to shipmates praying for JF and her son's double organ transplant. It went very well and JF's son is now "in recovery" with every chance of being able to lead a 'normal life'.

TBTG also that I am back home after a 999 trip to hospital (0100 hours yesterday) as a cardiac side effect of my chemotherapy.

Thank you for my son James, who was four months old on Easter Sunday. I can't believe its thirteen months almost to the day since I decided to ask everyone and anyone to pray for us as we were struggling to conceive and beginning to lose heart, and got a positive pregnancy test five days later. Given a few seemingly unanswered prayers in the past I wasn't prepared for such divine efficiency [Razz]

Adding a praise-- about two weeks ago, I read a somber post on FB from a girl who my nephews have adopted as a sort of cousin (she comes to all our family events.) She posted that she had expressed to her mom that she wanted to go to college, but her mom said she wasn't smart enough and should give the idea up.

I ground my teeth and sent her a private note offering support.

Today she posted a jpeg of her certificate of placement on her schools' Honor Roll. HONOR.ROLL.

I am currently squealing all over the place. So very proud of our brilliant and promising miss J. [Yipee] [Yipee] [Yipee] [Tear]

thankful for good family and good timing. my electric was due to be shut off today. my paycheck+child support checks arrived at noon - and the CS check was $200 dollars shorter than it should be (for the second time in a row) all my money (including cash tips in pocket) went into bank and it wasn't enough just to cover the back due. As the (very nice) tech pulls into my driveway and is negotiating my overly-exuberant doggies, my mom calls to say she paid the rest. so he wasted a trip. he was very happy to have wasted his trip also. and now he's happily driving away covered in fur and slobber (the dogs, not mine...) and I get to keep my refridgeration/netflix/shower habit for another month.

Thanks to God for his answer to our prayers for fine weather yesterday afternoon. It rained all morning, then stopped at one o'clock, just in time for everyone to decide that they WOULD come to the church festival after all! (and then it rained again when we had cleared up, which was absolutely okay with everyone).
Also thanks that loads of non-church people came along to see that church people DO have fun!

Thanks that I had a great time in UK and good flights to and from - I met loads of lovely Shipmates, although an Admin did manage to pull rank on me this last week and saw lots of my lovely other friends, too. The icing on the cake was Monday lunch with a guy I haven't seen for 20 - 25 years.

I mentioned on the prayer thread a while back a homeless guy we know from our mutual haunting of a nearby cafe/bookstore. He's such a fixture there, the store was able to put him on the payroll for some maintenance/custodial work he helps them with. Given how they usually do things there, I think they invented the job just for him. And given how hard it can be to find and keep a "real job" when you're living out of your truck, I was pleased to hear about it.

Way back I mentioned an Indian guy at our church who was trying to get visas for his wife and young child to join him while he studies in Cardiff. Yay! They are now with us, so thanks be to God and to the High Commission staff for dealing with the application pretty rapidly given the tougher than ever guidelines which are confusing the heck out of them.

TBTG for I. Robert "Bobby" Boudreaux, who has been my boss, I guess you could say -- I'm an election commissioner and he's been the Clerk of Court for Terrebonne Parish for 48 years, in public service for over 60 years. Attended his retirement banquet last night.

Despite the political nature of his post, he served with wit and intelligence, kindness and concern, and a real public-spiritedness, without a hint of even the teensiest scandal. In Louisiana. [Eek!] For 48 years.

And all his grown children are well-adjusted and successful in their fields and his sweet traditional wife "Miz Rose" did it all, he has to say, 'cause of the constant demands of his career. A person doesn't enter into public service in that way and still meet the demands of a family unless the couple is a package deal.

Good on them, I say. God was good to us, to give him to us all these years.

I'm pleased and relieved while I had two cats having to stay in my home, my family's two cats, while there "owners" were away, and they were happy and fine with me and are now back to there home. [Overused]

Before the February 2011 earthquake I had a favourite route for biking to church, down Gloucester St and through the Park. This has been cordoned off as unsafe while buildings were demolished. The good news is that it is re-opening tomorrow [Yipee] .

It's difficult for me to express the joy of getting an important part of the city back - though I know it's a wasteland at present [Tear] it will come back.

Giving *lots* of thanks that Mr B has come home safely today. He's just told me about a very horrible moment on his journey where he completely lost control of the car under braking, and almost hit the central barrier before ending up sideways across the carriageway. Miraculously, everything behind him was able to stop safely, so all is (more or less) well. Scary to hear about, and undoubtedly far more terrifying to be in.

So, yay for his safety, and yay for other people's quick responses and safety too. *phew*

Yay for the European Parliament and the MEPs for chucking out the ACTA.

This overblown legislation, the European equivalent of SOPA, would have tilted the balance of cross-border Intellectual Property law to favour IP rights holders to an even greater extent. It had been put together by the European Commission, prominent IP offices (USA, Japan, Canada, Australia etc) with no consultation with stakeholders on the 'other' side of IP. ACTA had been opposed by Medecin Sans Frontieres on the grounds that it would discourage production of generic drugs and had it not been for the European Parliament God alone knows what restrictions could have been placed on internet use.

This is a victory for ordinary people over those unelected scumbags, the EU commissioners and big business interests.

Young Master Tor was confirmed by the bishop last night, along with around fifty other children and adults from our deanery.

I have no idea if this is a sign of rude health in the church or not, but we have every reason to be grateful that Master Tor has survived his nearly 13 years on this planet and appears to be growing into a faith of his own.

The food bank Mr. S volunteers at is doing really well - I am amazed at the goodwill demonstrated by ordinary people, for those in desperate need. Someone drove across the city on Friday to bring bags and bags of fresh vegetables from his allotment. Someone else came in to ask what they were short of, then came back with a trolley-load - he'd almost cleared the shelves of that particular item in the local supermarket!

After 5 years of distance learning while holding down a more than full time job, I've finally completed my degree in Social Work. I found out today I've been awarded a 2:1 which I simply couldn't been more delighted with - the last year has been more hellish than I can begin to describe but it's finished and I'm qualified in my chosen profession! Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

... but some students aren't exactly young. I particularly like the fact he volunteers to help elderly people not to fall off treadmills at the gym.

Even more [Eek!] 'cos 8 months or so ago, they'd just about resigned themselves to the fact that weren't going be able to have children.

He's a wee bit early, and quite small (around 5lb) but I'm told he & Mum are both fine.

My son has got a University place through clearing. The amazing thing is that the course he'll be doing looks to be better suited to him than the ones he originally applied to, but didn't get into because his grades weren't good enough.

I know there are a lot of people who are not fans of Facebook, but Facebook is saving people in the New Orleans area.

Lots of people are logging into Facebook pages of the local mayors and city councilmen and telling where they are trapped on their roofs, helping get people to them to get them to safety. A lot different than Hurricane Katrina, where lives were lost because no one knew where they were.

There is something good to be said about technology.

Our pastor was at today's meeting which wouldn't be news were it not for the fact that he hasn't attended for about three months. At long last the Dr's have a diagnosis and a prognosis of 'You are ill, but you will recover and you will feel better than before'! I think he has been burning the candle at both ends and he has been warned by his doctor. It won't stop him doing God's work, but it might tell him to stop abusing his own strength.

in the flooding - my friend had to leave her home and couldn't find the cat outside. the it flooded bad - no dry ground at all. She feared the worst. they let her back home today and she found the cat holed up in the attic, high and dry. Another friend had to just set her dogs loose because she had to be evacuated by bus. When she came home they were on the porch smelling of fish and looking very happy.

I saw the hospital consultant this week. I have NOT got rheumatoid arthritis. I've got achilles tendonitis, which won't spread to other joints and will heal if treated gently.

This is an AMAZING relief.

I'm full of gratitude today, simply for being alive.

I remember leaving work on Thursday, and I remember waking up in the ambulance. I was told at the hospital I hit an eighteen-wheeler.

I fractured a sinus, I have nine stitches near and in my nose, I have four staples in the back of my head, and a black eye--but I was able to spend Thursday night in my own bed. I'm back at work today, and my Halloween costume should be stellar this year!

I've seen my truck--it's also clear I was rear-ended (although I don't know if that was before or after I hit the semi). I seem to have no traumas that time can't heal with a little help from Lortabs. I am so aware it could have been significantly worse.

Isn't it annoying when your exhaust breaks going over those speedbumps in multi-story car parks?

That happened to us this evening but thanks to the AA and a nice chap from a Newport garage who rigged a 'running repair', Mrs S managed to get us home without deafening the neighbourhood.

[Overused] for car mechanics who can do more than suck in through their teeth and say "That'll cost you, mate".

Almost a year ago, (Nov.), I was diagnosed with metastitized melanoma. In the normal course of things -- at least as they used to be before a couple of new therapies -- I should be dead or near death today.

But here I am, 10 months later, still symptom-free and with just 3 spots on my lung, and feeling perfectly healthy. The immune therapy I was given may or may not have been a factor, the docs are not sure, but in any case, whatever the future bring, i have been so incredibly blessed. How can I ever adequately thank you and praise you, God!

Why am I posting a link to a horse race?

The reason is not that the horse in question is the best in decades if not of all time, but because his trainer, Sir Henry Cecil, is in a desperate fight against stomach cancer.

We can't all have a Frankel for company, but I'm impressed and grateful that God gave him to a man who needs all the help he can get.

So the lovely man I have been talking to online has asked me out for coffee. That coming just after (literally a matter of minutes) reading a particularly powerful prayer as part of someone's blog post, makes me feel like things are perhaps changing. Don't want to give into a false sense of security yet but this week (month?) has been not a happy one at all, and I nearly broke totally today. But something feels different. Thanks and praise for hope.

For several years my phone bill has been much higher than it needed to be but i was too confused/lethargic/intimidated by red tape/unknowledgable about the technicalities involved/ or whatever (in any case shame on me) to fix it. I give thanks to my very good friend and non-genetic brother (who is phone savvy) who with a call cut my bill in half. God has blessed me so much with friends and loved ones.

I just got my MRI and CT scan results and i am down to one spot of melanoma on my lung and that one is only half the size that it was! [Yipee]

I posted on the Prayer Thread a while back. My sister's op went well, and she seems to be making a good recovery. My mum is now in a Nursing Home - not a great solution, but the best available in the circumstances, it seems. My colleague seems to be doing well ...
.... the worst and best news is my friend. They found cancers in both breasts and declared that they were 'almost certainly' secondaries - a week of misery and a CT scan later, they decided that there is no other cancer anywhere else in the body. So now cancer in both breasts seems like good news. Feeling grateful anyway.

2. I am now taking the right asthma meds

3. They are kicking in.

4. I can BREATHE! I feel like a whole new woman!

I had gotten so used to mediocre breathing that I just assumed it was normal. Only took a rescue inhaler when things got extra bad. I finally got into the "activity induced" aspect of my condition, and the doc just shook her head at me like I was an idiot. If you have activity induced asthma, she said, you really need a "daily."

Maybe I can take up fencing again, for reals! [Yipee]

Today we had the installation of our new vicar- a wonderful woman- which is reason enough for praise. But I'd like to give my thanks to God for the safe deliverance of our Bishop from leukemia diagnosed this spring. Now I know that treatments for the disease have gotten very good, so I knew that he was going through some intense treatments to knock it down. What I didn't realize was that they hadn't expected him to live. Period. The form he had was one of the barely survivable forms. Sort of like pancreatic cancer. [Frown] But after several months being hospitalized and and weeks after his release, it was announced that he now appears totally clear of the disease. And today at the installation he looked the picture of health. It was a lengthy service but he didn't seem tired at the end, and in fact, was moving on next to the baptism of his grandchild this same afternoon.

Thank you, God, for your mercy on this good man. [Votive]

I have a homework assignment from church to be thankful each day for one thing between now and Advent.

(Not that I'm going to weigh down the ship with these, but today I actually am thankful).

I had received a distressing letter from my physician group saying they weren't going to be in my insurance network next year. And therefore I would either find another doctor or change to a plan they accept.

There is no way I could change plans; I can only afford the lowest cost one.

So after distressing all weekend, I called their careline today and found out that my letter was sent by mistake. My plan is now and will be next year accepted at my primary care providers.

On Oct 24, I had a knee replacement, In the hospital, I couldn't take any pain meds, so I had to deal without them. I had a prayer cover from a lot of you and many friends for which I am thankful for. I am now at home recuperating, again without pain meds except Tylenol on occasion.
The recuperation is all God, by the way. HE was always there with me taking care of me.
I'm walking with a crutch, getting stronger every day, being able to negotiate and get things done around the house. JB is an angel. GOD bless him and GOD for sending him to me.

I want to thank all those who prayed for me, I felt your love surrounding me. God bless you all. [Axe murder]

I was sitting here doing things and thinking about all I have to do before I get on the big silver bird on Friday morning [less than 72 hours away] when Himself came and said that he and Herself were going to the temple and that I should come with them - I started to say no, I'm too busy when I realised it was just what I needed.

It did me the world of good.

I drove for over 3 hours today, to get to the residential training course that I'm attending this weekend. Much of the journey was in heavy fog, which freaked me out and made the whole experience so much harder. (Also not helped by me trying to overtake a lorry, running out of overtaking lane and forcing the lorry driver to brake suddenly to let me in. Sorry, whoever you were.)

Thank You, Lord, for keeping me safe. And the lorry driver.

I was crossing the road while the "green-man" was there to let us across, but it only lasts very little time and we have to rush across. There was an elderly woman crossing too, with a wooden leg helper, and I was able to hold her arm as it turned red and I waved at the cars and they let us cross and she wasn't hurt or hit by them. [Yipee] And then I was able to take her to her bus, quite a way, and she walks slowly and can't hear well. The bus arrived just before she could get to it, and so I ran and told the driver and he moved up to her and I helped her in and he was pleased. [Overused] thank you, God!

Thank you God for a successful fundraising concert last night - the church was full, everything was well received, even or perhaps especially the mistakes, and we have raised about £1200 and more is coming in all the time. [Yipee] I am so grateful that it is all over now, and we can help the people we set out to help. [Yipee]

God is amazing.
The theme I felt so "spiritually-manoevred" into using for my service this morning (despite my repeated reluctance) turned out to be precisely the theme the church needed at precisely, and I mean precisely, the right time. I was afraid I'd never be invited back as the service material could so easily have touched a number of raw nerves, but it seemed to be well received too. God is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.

A Good Day.

Our pastor, P, who has been a starring presence on the Prayer thread for a year or so is much better. Also a bunch of us went to a pub in Cardiff yesterday that was running a charity evening (oh the hardships of outreach) and they raised over £250! And they want us back!

God was very helpful [Overused] I was just walking out to go to shop when another friend was locked out of her home. So I was able to have here with me overnight and day and she has managed to get back into her home. Thank you, God! [Angel]

Thanks and praise to God for sending our friend Pete the Plumber to church to quote for a new boiler (two other plumbers having condemned the old one as unfixable). Pete found a leak they had missed* and fixed it on the spot [Overused] - saving us between £5K and £10K! [Overused] Hallelujah! for honest plumbers! [Axe murder]

* it was tripping out the electrics every time we turned on the boiler - NOT good.

Just listening to Science radio show (Science Friday, for you Americans) where they discussed how common Fibonacci Numbers occur in nature. It's all so beautiful and elegant. Today, among lots of other things, I am thankful and in awe of the natural world.

I just received a new (second) diagnosis of breast cancer. I am grateful for good, caring doctors, nurses and technicians (and for the medical technology that allows them to do their jobs well); for a wonderful, supportive boss and colleagues; for a parish family, priests and laity, who immediately stepped up to help. Thank you, Lord, for the blessing of these loving, helpful people.

I give thanks that i completed the 1st of 2 5-day cycles of capsules in a chemotherapy trial (the next 5-day cycle is in 2 weeks), and i had no ill effects whatsoever (i was prescribed an antiemetic because i could have had some adverse effects -- but i totally did not need it). Again God has been so inexplicably good to me.

I give thanks for Ross' powerful witness of thankful faith.

Dad was moved from one residential care home to another on Monday.
Mum tell me that staff who dealt with them at both homes were compassionate, helpful and reassuring.
Dad was relaxed and happy when she left him in his new room.
His health continues to deteriorate, but I give thanks that he is in a comfortable place.

Sorry for the double post, but I am delighted to give thanks that our fundraising concert raised £1,689 ($2,618) for two very good causes in Uganda and DRC. [Yipee]

Giving thanks for a lovely morning at the Clifford Christmas Fair, where the ladies of Stitch and Bitch shared a stall. We all had fun, made a bit of money, and it really was confidence building to have complete strangers saying how wonderful our craft work was!

Now hear this! Pardon the length of the story.

Many times I have mentioned Mrs Sioni's coworker, C who broke both her elbows going over the front of her bike, and that in addition to a son suffering from some sort of CFS, a daughter with all kinds of food alergies and an unsurprising crisis of faith in a church that probably isn't the most sensitive.

Anyway, her son, O, is back at school for a few hours each day now. Not the school he used to atend. They didn't want him [Roll Eyes] but he's back in education so that is good.

The big story is that C went for a driving test on Friday and they told her, sorry, no way you can drive, your arms don't have the strength or dexterity. You need an adapted car, a retest. That was that.

On Sunday, out of desperation she got a few others round to pray for her and she felt her arms click, loosen and move far more than they have done since she first broke them nearly five months ago (did I mention she re-broke one?) This morning, in hope more than expectation, she went to the Test centre to let them see this and when she got there, instead of bureaucratic facelessness she was recgnised. The guy who recognised her is a driving test examiner who knows her husband. She excitedly told him what had happened and while he explained that she would have to book another test in four months time and it would cost another £160 he did say "I could let you drive mine for a few minutes and see how you are doing". C doesn't like strange cars, but this the same model as her own, the examiner, ended up re-examining her, and to the official report from Friday he is adding a supplementary which subject to clearance from her doctor and physiotherapist (for insurance purposes) means she can get her license back!

So that's it. Over one weekend, from desperately limited movement & no license to full movement, no pain and enough strength to steer & change gear! It's a huge boost to her faith too, as that was failing too (well, it would, wouldn't it?).

Thanks for everyone who has ever prayed for C, O and the family.

Heartfelt thanks that my depressed alcoholic brother has self-referred (and been referred by his GP) for more treatment for his alcoholism. Last time he went through rehab he was a different person till he went on holiday and back on the bottle. Maybe this time, Lord, maybe this time ...

He isn't an easy person to help, but then again if he were he wouldn't BE in this mess ... [Confused]

Coming back to London, the train was originally not coming here and then, later it was put back to here! And with me was an elderly handicapped man who several of us from the hotel we were in got it organised to take him (I shared the taxi with him and carried his bag) and he was collected from the train when we got there, by a man who had a place to put him and carry him to the car for him. Thank you God. [Overused] [Yipee]

I've had impetigo on my neck 3 times since August and a week ago the patches appeared again.
What with Christmas, a funeral ,an interview and surgery holidays I was dreading going to the walk in centre for antibiotics.
It has almost healed itself without getting to the yucky stage, thanks be to God.
