I have seen this quote used widely:
"The Anglican Communion has no peculiar thought, practice, creed or confession of its own. It has only the Catholic Faith of the ancient Catholic Church, as preserved in the Catholic Creeds and maintained in the Catholic and Apostolic constitution of Christ's Church from the beginning."
Now, foolishly or otherwise, I have decided to make it the basis for my dissertation - but am unable to find any original source citing it in any more detail than simply attributing it to ++Fisher. Can anyone shed any light on this?

I think a good reference librarian would be a much better person to direct your research questions too than the internet.

Fair point... (in my defence, I did see it in a book at first, but then lost the reference...)
Thanks Thurible!

I work in an academic library, so I'm biased, but if you want a truly spiffing dissertation you should have a lengthy chat with your school's reference librarian. Even now that you have this particular source. [ 01. February 2013, 13:29: Message edited by: Zach82 ]

I rather think that the Moravians maintain a slightly lower candled version of the same idea, if this is of any use to your dissertation.
Like the CofE, this also I suspect, has the effect that practice, habit and ethos become a significant and semi-official part of what it means to be a member.

Hmm, not sure that there is much of a basis for discussion here, or any link to worship practices (as opposed to creeds).
Is anything more general up for debate?

The Times of Friday 21 September 1951 reported a statement made by the Anglo-Catholic Council and sent to all members of the Church Assembly. It begins: -
"At a public meeting on January 30, 1951, the Archbishop of Canterbury said: "The Anglican Communion, with its fellowship of Churches, has a special responsibility at this time in the world. We have no doctrine of our own - we only possess the Catholic doctrine of the Catholic Church, enshrined in the Catholic Creeds; and those creeds we hold without addition or diminution. We stand firm on that rock."' [ 01. February 2013, 17:30: Message edited by: Corvo ]
