I'm 30,000kms away and not thinking of training for ordination so..no but just wanted to say don't be scared of going alone. I've found that when I've gone to conferences or open day type things alone I've often got more out of them than when with friends/partner whatever. You meet and talk to more people and learn more that way-go on!

We could always cram a shipmeet for those not thinking about the ministry into the Bat and Ball...

Hi recklessrat
I'm a former RCC ordinand (& too far away now to go to the open day.) Don't worry at all about going on your own. Presumably you are exploring ordination- it will be a great chance to chat with other people at various stages in that exploration. RCC is really friendly, and they take hospitality very seriously.
Have you found the vocations thread yet?

Sandemaniac is also right that a meet at the bat & ball would be fun- if only we were closer.

Another ex RCC ordinand echoing Rosa's comments. It is an extremely friendly place and you will be well looked after even on your own. I too would join you at the Bat and Ball if I weren't as far away as Rosa is

Another ex RCC ordinand checking in. It is a great place to train and you are never more than 2 hours from a bit of home made cake. It is worth going to the open day for that reason alone! The 'Bat and Ball' is a bit pricey but has a nice atmosphere.

I went to the October open day with my partner and then for interview in November on my own. I was made so welcome both times. As has already been said, they take hospitality very seriously and you will have a lovely day. Lots of people seemed to have arrived on their own for the open day but the day starts with coffee giving you a great chance to get chatting with others. Relax and enjoy [Smile]

Ah, RCC being Ripon College Cuddesdon...

I got quite confused, 'cos I'd read RCC as Roman Catholic Church, and there is no way at all that Rosa Gallica officinalis, Jante and Poppy could have been Catholic ordinands....

Thank you everyone for your best wishes. Just back from Oxford and been reminded just how wonderfully hospitable people are at Cuddesdon - the whole ethos of the place is wonderful!

Hope you have a very good experience on the Open Day and I am sure you will be made very welcome indeed! [Smile]

I didn't go because of the snow! [Frown]
Apparently there is another one in April, which gives me some thinking time beforehand...
