From everything I have seen, TRH the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have their heads firmly screwed on, and there is plenty of recent precedent to keep the media away from Royal children outside the occasional staged appearance. I expect they will do just fine.

Indeed! Lovely news. And very historic to have three generations of heirs to the throne at once, plus current sovereign--apparently last happened in 1894.
A joyous moment for the country. I think "James" would be nice, James Cambridge (if that's the surname they choose, apparently I read they can also choose Mountbatten-Windsor of just Windsor) has a nicer ring than the bookmakers' favourite, George.
George Cambridge doesn't flow trippingly off the tongue.
But we'll see, they may surprise us. I also think David Cambridge sounds lovely but David was Edward VIII 's name en famille so that may not be a tactful choice...

He will be HRH Prince Whatever of Cambridge, and will almost certainly use the same "Whatever Cambridge" at school etc.

Well, Great-Granny still looks chipper, and I actually hope she will carry on until I'm in my dotage (Prince Charles is 3 months younger than me, so I donno what that says about his chances)

That's His Royal Highness, The Prince George of Cambridge to the likes of you and me, WesleyJ.
Of course people over here are calling that a nice tribute to the Queen's Father, but George was his regnal name. His own name was Albert, and until he acceded the throne, he was known as Prince Albert, Duke of York. He was known as Bertie to family and close friends.
Louis seems almost de rigeur these days. Alexander is also a Battenburg name.
