I know I gatecrashed Pigwidgeon's Shipmeet at the Captain Kidd but I was wondering if anyone is up for another? I think there was some success at one meet at the India Club on the Strand.

Any takers? Or is this one too many? I know there is something planned for September, but sadly, I'll be back home by then.

P.S. to Miss Amanda--Yes, I will sober up and and file my MW reports.

I'm in, and I think most of us from the Pigwidgeon meet were in accord.

There's no such thing as one too many Shipmeets in London unless you starting competing with a date already taken. You get a sprinkling of different people each time, along with the "usual suspects"!

I can't make it but can vouch that The India Club is a great place for a Meet!

Not a gate crash at all! I enjoyed meeting you -- and appreciated the walk home.

Wish I could join you all for the next one, but I'm headed to Heathrow in about an hour. [Frown]

Bother indeed! That location was your idea the first time, Yangtze. Unless it's your own leaving drinks can't you do both??

And Gussie, it was your idea this time. I hope you can come.

People, please RSVP so we can make at least a vague reservation! It's drinks in the bar first, and then proceed to restaurant upstairs, which is unlicenced but you can bring drinks up from the bar or in from the outside world.

Timing? Meet in bar from 6-7 and then move up to restaurant? Is that fine?

I would love to come but cannot commit to anything until I know when my mother is coming out of hospital. Sorry.

Not my own leaving but don't think I'll be able to do both. Darn it.

Contrary to the impression I might have given earlier, I'm out of London this weekend, so won't be able to make it. Hope you have a great time.

We have four commitments - Acton Bell, M & Macarius and me. We have all met before, courtesy of Pigwidgeon recently.

And we have a few maybes - Spike, Gussie JoannaP and Curiosity Killed...

Are there any more takers? Meanwhile there is great discussion going on on Nunc's thread about meeting somewhere other than a pub two weeks later. And the latest suggestion is a pub. I am confused.

I am prepared to make a provisional reso at the India Club, but I would appreciate a greater show of hands. And, if it is only the four of us, we might relocate to a pub!

Would that in fact raise the attendance? Naming no names...

daisymay, upthread, it was suggested 6-7 in the bar and (presumably) 7 in the restaurant.

We'll be there - looking forward to our curry! We might arrive a bit later than 6, though.

I am a bit envious of you all meeting up there, I love The India Club - perhaps on my next trip to UK we can have another Meet there.

Enjoy, all of you.

We have nine confirmed now, mostly female, FWIW. I am happy to make a reservation in the name of The Ship if people would like me to. I would book for 12 in the hope that a few more decide to pop in when the time comes. Always easier to take chairs from the table than to add them.

Assemble in the bar between six and seven and proceed up to the restaurant when most have gathered, as we did with WW last time? Is that fine?

Any more jumping on board?

Great fun seeing you all.

The other BBC Singers concert you came to DV, was In the Beginning and the piece I was struggling to remember was Gyögri Ligeti's Lux Aeterna which I hadn't realised until I saw it performed was a choral piece for 16 voices. It is part of the soundtrack for 2001: A Space Odyssey - according to Wikipedia, Ligeti wasn't totally happy about this.
