After seven years hosting the Circus, Chorister is now deemed to have paid full penance for her past sins and has asked that she be released from the shackles of hosting and she'll be standing down later this week.
Chorister has been a very valuable member of the host team and I'm sure you'll all join me in thanking her for all she's done and wishing her all the very best for a well earned break.

Chorister, thank you for all your stirling work in the Circus (not that I ever visit there of course) and for being an inventor of cool games, a kind and moderate moderator, and an all-round "one of the good guys". Enjoy your freedom ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

Well done Chorister. There should be instant translation to glory for you on departing this mortal coil because I can't see how God could possibly consider any more purgatorial cleansing necessary.
Can I put in a plea that a replacement host be one who similarly understands and allows the playing of the King of Games, named for a north London tube station?

I only rarely venture into the Circus, but it has always seemed a well-run affair and great fun. I look forward to your wit and intelligence having more time to flourish on the rest of the Ship, Chorister.

Seven and a half years actually. Don't forget the half, it's very important. And yes, it would be good to spend a little less time in the Circus and a little more time on the more detailed threads on other boards.

Yes, seven and a half years in the Circus is surely proof of someone having taken leave of their senses.

Just yesterday on the "How sad is your life," thread Chorister posted this: quote: When I was 18, I spent my spare time poring over a map of Devon, square by square - making a list of every church in every village, so I could visit each one in turn and take photographs.
She meant it as an example of nerdiness but I thought to myself, and not for the first time, I don't think I've known very many people as nice as Chorister. *snif*

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! NOT CHORISTER!!!!!
Seven and a half years. I mean, hosting the Circus isn't that bad, so long as you don't have to read the cricket thread and can ignore that evil game that only occasionally has any resemblance to transit systems once it gets dull, but seriously, seven and a half years? Do we make distinguished service medals here on the Ship? Naval service stars? Some sort of insignia that she can wear with pride to church?
We're really going to miss having you as our co-host. I know you have to go, you need to retire, but . . . please? Can I just try the long-distance puppy dog eyes that don't work over the Internet?
Okay, fine. Even at these distances the PDE's are unfair. Fine. Leave. See if we care.
