After seven years hosting the Circus, Chorister is now deemed to have paid full penance for her past sins and has asked that she be released from the shackles of hosting and she'll be standing down later this week.

Chorister has been a very valuable member of the host team and I'm sure you'll all join me in thanking her for all she's done and wishing her all the very best for a well earned break.

Thanks for all your hard work Chorister. [Smile]

Enjoy the rest!

Seven years?! [Eek!] That's centuries in internet time!

Thanks chorister!

Was she let off for good behaviour? [Eek!]

Chorister, thank you for all your stirling work in the Circus (not that I ever visit there of course) and for being an inventor of cool games, a kind and moderate moderator, and an all-round "one of the good guys". Enjoy your freedom [Big Grin]

Thanks for all your work Chorister - if you can survive seven years of Mornington Crescent I'm sure that life can no longer hold any terror for you!

Well done Chorister. There should be instant translation to glory for you on departing this mortal coil because I can't see how God could possibly consider any more purgatorial cleansing necessary.

Can I put in a plea that a replacement host be one who similarly understands and allows the playing of the King of Games, named for a north London tube station?

Thank you, Chorister! Wow, seven years!

I'm sure there's a Nunc Dimittis joke in here somewhere.

Well done, thou good and faithful servant [Smile]

I'd make a comment about leaving some big shoes to fill, but they're clown shoes so it would be a bit redundant!

Enjoy your well earned rest, Chorister, and thank you.

I only rarely venture into the Circus, but it has always seemed a well-run affair and great fun. I look forward to your wit and intelligence having more time to flourish on the rest of the Ship, Chorister.

Dammit, Spike. Didn't you read on the Illuminati Board about why we kept Chorister (Eater Of Souls) bound to the Mental Fungal (Circus) Board?!?! What have you done?!

Uh... Thanks Chorister. For all your... er... non-eating of souls. Recently.

The woman's a martyr. What's the Ship's equivalent to a long-service medal (apart from ulcers obviously)?

Posted by Chorister (# 473) on :

Seven and a half years actually. Don't forget the half, it's very important. And yes, it would be good to spend a little less time in the Circus and a little more time on the more detailed threads on other boards.

Don't believe her - I can sometimes hardly see for penguin footprints stamped all over the place.

Host Emeritus indeed, excellent staying power! Enjoy only reading the threads you want, and the champagne and bon bons are over there...

There are H&A who've been in the job longer, but doing it in The Circus takes a special sort of person.

Take that to mean what you want [Razz]

I wouldn't be too sure - I think I urgently need to start looking for it again.

Thanks also to Marvin.... I think.... [Ultra confused]

It was the lack of any form of sanity that made her suitable for the job in the first place.

Yes, seven and a half years in the Circus is surely proof of someone having taken leave of their senses.

Congratulations on making good your escape, Chorister. Do you get...er ... certified, or something?

It was by being certifiable she was given the post in the first place. Hopefully her release signals a cure and not that she is beyond help.

Should we start a Circus thread on that?

But seriously, Chorister, you're a gem. Many, many thanks.

Just yesterday on the "How sad is your life," thread Chorister posted this:
quote:
When I was 18, I spent my spare time poring over a map of Devon, square by square - making a list of every church in every village, so I could visit each one in turn and take photographs.
She meant it as an example of nerdiness but I thought to myself, and not for the first time, I don't think I've known very many people as nice as Chorister. *snif*

Those must have been some serious sins! I can't wait for the tell-all book. In the meantime, many thanks to Chorister for her work.

Chorister, you are amazing! Thank you for your seven and a half years of service to the Ship! That's ninety months in teddy bear time!

Congratulations on your emancipation!

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! NOT CHORISTER!!!!!

Seven and a half years. I mean, hosting the Circus isn't that bad, so long as you don't have to read the cricket thread and can ignore that evil game that only occasionally has any resemblance to transit systems once it gets dull, but seriously, seven and a half years? Do we make distinguished service medals here on the Ship? Naval service stars? Some sort of insignia that she can wear with pride to church?

We're really going to miss having you as our co-host. I know you have to go, you need to retire, but . . . please? Can I just try the long-distance puppy dog eyes that don't work over the Internet?

Okay, fine. Even at these distances the PDE's are unfair. Fine. Leave. See if we care.

[Waterworks]

And to show you I've been at this game waaaay too long, I've just clicked on all the smilies on this thread to check that there aren't any hidden tricks. How sad is that?!

If I have trouble adjusting, I may need to bill SoF funds to pay for a debriefing session.... [Ultra confused]

I remember Chorister becoming a Circus host. It can't possibly be over seven years ago. Can it?

Posted by Chorister (# 473) on :

2005 really is that long ago, even though it doesn't sound it. I was always amazed to see the Dates of Birth of children in the class registers - to see that, even though the date seemed like yesterday, these children were now at school, and reading, losing their milk teeth, and growing up very fast!

Anyway, Smudgie, you've been around for, like, ever, so you would remember. Penguins never forget.

Chorister no longer ****ing! The end of an era. I've always been very impressed with her fair-mindedness and level-headness, both as a **** and as a shipmate as well (not to mention her sense of humour!) Don't be a stranger!
