Two Young Boys Suspended From School For Pointing Pencils Like Guns

What happended to the 'teachable moment?' Why must we treat 7 year-olds as if they were psychotic? Is anyone else out there tired of this dim witted approach? Bloody hell, the poor kid can't play army with a pal? And what of the asinine School District Spokesperson who cited 'Cowboys and Indians' as a dated, yet acceptible imaginary scenario? How about we check with the Sioux and Apache about that one, eh? We're just gonna let that littkle racist tidbit slide though, because DAMMIT, MAN - HE WAS POINTING A PENCIL! I MEAN, JUST *THINK* IF SOME OF THAT PRESSED GRAPHITE HAD ACTUALLY GONE OFF!
quote:
"A pencil is a weapon when it is pointed at someone in a threatening way and gun noises are made"
Really? Really. I guess the only thing that stops a bad little boy with a pencil in hand, is a good for nothing floozy with a pencil in her hair. If I'm an Executive at Dixon-Ticonderoga I already have this kid booked to film a back-to-school TV commercial to run this coming August.

The rule is okay, the application of punishment by the school is atrocious. Scaring two little guys to death! How are they going to get a sense of proportion about the reasons for rules? Dumbass educators. [Mad]

Was he threatening to fill his classmates with lead?

In tomorrow's news, the NRA calls for every school to have security guards armed with 2Bs in quick-draw holsters to counter the growing prevalence of HB-wielding ne'er-do-wells.

We CANNOT hold aloft our Law Enforcement and Military personnel as paragons of heroisism -- something we now do a good bit more of since September 2011 -- and then crush our kids for emulating them (at least in part). For pity's sake, the kid's dad was/is a veteran. Some of these people's detachment is astounding. How many 7 year-olds are camped out in front of the evening news report. Hell, I don't know many parents who subject themselves to that nightly informational open sewer. But 7 year-olds in this community do it enough to have it shape a skewed worldview that impacts the local school playground? Please. That lady needs to wake up and smell what she's shoveling.

If you let children play with pencil-guns they might gravitate towards committing serious offences like criminal damage with a piece of chalk.

Not to mention Sen. Feinstein's soon-to-be-announced "Assault Pencil Ban of 2013". It's for the children, you understand.
