One down, five to go.
Hilarious news conference, streamed on the BBC website on Thursday afternoon. quote:
Warwick Davis, who recently starred in the Monty Python-inspired musical Spamalot, introduced the "five legends" at the London's Playhouse theatre, claiming the venue for the reunion had been decided after a series of bids.
Opening a series of gold envelopes, he claimed the winner was first, Qatar, then Meryl Streep.
Any thoughts?
I, for one, am just happy to see them happy and obviously having a lot of fun. The news conference tickled a number of elements of my funny skeleton.
I don't really feel the need to go and see the show. Most of my encounters with their (not quite dead yet) body of work was on the telly anyway, except for the Spamalot show in London.
Still - very good news.

It's possible this might affect the timing of my family's trip to London this summer ...

"After you turn 70, you can be absolutely shameless," echoed Gilliam.
Sounds promising, both for a good show in London, and for life ahead (in somewhat less than 20 yrs for me!)

I have a very bad feeling about this.....
I hope I am wrong.

Fingers crossed ...
(Speaking as one who is over 70 but has not achieved the state of being "absolutely shameless.")

Tickets for the first show at the O2 arena sold out in 47 seconds so they've added 5 more dates.
Cleese should get a substantial boost to his funds to make-good the depletion of his alimony payments...

Old comedians are never as funny as they were when they were younger.

I hope they come to San Francisco!
If not, I hope PBS eventually shows the show--perhaps for a pledge special?

I don't know. George Carlin was still raising comic hell in his latter days, bless his soul.

'Fraid not. Nor are we going to rush on dressed as cardinals (despite being famous for our surprise, fear and ruthless efficiency).

Weeelll, I am not so sure. He went from portraying a cranky, old man to being one. Not quite as amusing.
