I received a card yesterday from someone I have not heard from since 1992 or thereabouts...which has made Christmas for me.
Something called "life" got in the way, I guess...
Last heard of living in France (and the card came from France) although she was born English to English parents in the NE of England. We met when we were both 10 years old...and now we are much older than that.
How does one go about finding people in France?
St Everild, happy for the partial contact!

Google can sometimes help with these things but I m sure there are better and more specific services online.

Is there a French equivalent of Friends Reunited?
Otherwise, Facebook can be useful for such things.
Sounds like a lovely surprise

Facebook has reunited me with old friends, some of whom I hadn't seen for over 20 years, and some of whom I've been able to see IRL when home on holiday, which was really nice.

You could also try looking on t'internet for "Pages Blanches" - the telephone directory - for the relevant region, especially if your friend has an English surname, whih will stand out in a French phone book. It doesn't help if s/he is ex-directory, but it's a possibility. Or place an ad on "Le Bon Coin" (freebie newspaper) That wouldn't work for us as we don't read it, but it is another option.

I reconnected just before Christmas with a fellow I worked with and later attended univ with in 1977 to 1979. I would not have recognized him after close to 35 years. This was via that facebook thing which so many criticize. This was via another friend with whom I reconnected about 4 years ago after a ~30 year not seeing him.

Dormouse, you are an absolute star.
I looked in the Pages Blanches, and there, on page 2 or 3, there was a listing for a person with the same name, living in the same city as my friend was 20 years ago when we lost contact.
I'm going to be very old fashioned and write a letter...
Thank you so much!
