I came upon this quiz, apparently inspired by a question my friend was asked in a job interview, and couldn't resist sharing it.
I got 16, but a lot of it was guesswork.

12 - I wouldn't do very well in an Italian restaurant!

Magnificent.

15. But I had a bad few early on, which threw me off my stride a little.

17. But there are some wildly obscure pastas and unheard of composers in there. Put it down to luck mostly.

14. A horrible start before a strong finish.

15. They said "well done" but I think it's more of an al dente kind of score.

13. Oh dear.

14. My knowledge of pasta was much more useful than my knowledge of music.

[Stats geekery: at the 95% level, the threshold for having significant evidence that you're doing better than random guessing is to get at least 15 right].

14 and I used to work in a music library. I got trigger finger at one point and picked pasta for a composer, but even then. I hang my head in shame

19.
It helps that I spend time in both music libraries and Italian grocery stores.

18. There are some real obscurities in there.
(Al dente! <snort>)

I surprised myself with another 18 there.

17. Mostly due to having a pretty good knowledge of pasta. Never heard of most of the composers.
Posted by orfeo (# 13878) on

It said 17. I actually thought it was 18 but obviously I couldn't even keep track of my WRONG answers.

Does anyone know of a composer who shares his name with a pasta? Apart from Lasagna Verdi that is, Guiseppe's less well-known brother.

I recognised the pasta I have eaten, but I flipped a coin on most of the composers. Still respectable, I think.

12 - I went for the composer except in the case of the one pasta I recognised.

17. Not quite sure how...

18 right. Had to call in the Guessometer several times.

15. Gave me quite an appetite. Just off for a nice big plate of Scarlatti...

19. It helps if you speak Italian; some of the words fit the descriptions of various kinds of pasta much better than they fit the concept of surname.

I love his music! So many layers.
I got an embarrassing 15.

I missed five. Dunno how many I got right...

Middle Rogueling scored 10 and was also told well done.

16, some very obscure composers and also pasta varieties.

Hmm, only 12 for me. I’m not at all musical but I thought my love of pasta would stand me in good stead

I used to share a flat with an Italian ... 21.

I managed to get 18 correct. I guess I should have paid more attention in graduate school.
