This one, we visited on Thursday at lunch time, which has a service, a short one as compared to the Sunday ones. Most churches don't have that happening! We had Psalm 112 to sing, (with piano) and I really enjoyed that as we always in Scotland sing the psalm hymns more than others.

We also had a short Sermon, which also reminded us about the wars in the past, and we also prayed. It was really good and people were friendly and we went downstairs to have our lunch! We sat together and chatted there.

On this Saturday 23rd, it will be open from 11.30am to have lunch and also having lots of things to buy to give presents at Christmas. There are also some places for children to play and enjoy that!

A lot of extra work has been done, more lights keeping it lighter and the way we enter has been painted again, and the pictures of the ordained men who have been in charge years and years ago are not on at the moment!

and the Minister is Reverend Philip Majcher

and they don't have to wear formal church clothes, but still good formal clothes, not like Churches of England who wear different clothes.

I have visted Crown Court - a friend of mine is very involved there - and it is a friendly place, but I wouldn't agree with your assertion that most churches don't have a weekday service. Most churches do - and in London quite a few of these weekday services include some form of music varying from a full sung Eucharist to simple Taize prayer chants.

I will be going to Crown Court on Sunday evening, as some of my friends have contacted me and said they would be there and wanted me too. I'll have coffee after the service and there is usually something sweet too! The hymns will be good with a good musician.

Sounds lovely Daisymay. What form of service does the evening usually take?

There was an organist playing hymns and before the service and after the service - he was excellent.

The minister was preaching and praying and a woman read the two bits of the Bible. He preaches very well. Another person takes the big Bible up to the place that is above, and not where it's done on evenings.

It is a lovely place, upstairs from the door we come in, and then down another way is where we all had tee and coffee and sweet bread stuff! And we all spoke and chatted and also that seems to be where the children are during morning services.

Well it depends on which tradition you come from. Anglicans with morning and evening prayer along with Roman Catholicism with daily masses have long had weekday services.

However with the much stronger liturgical week, more Reformed churches have usually strongly emphasised the Sabbath observance and therefore tended not to have worship at other times during the week. There are notable exceptions. Calvin's Geneva had a mid week preached-service on a Wednesday. However daily devotion was strongly encouraged within the home.

And tomorrow at 11.30am, it will be lots of things being to bye for Christmas, and lunch food etc and somewhere for children to play! I got the paper we were given last Sunday.
