Saw a thing on Styx about Lent groups.
2 questions:
When does Lent begin and end this year? What are Lent groups?
Sorry, that's 3 questions!

Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent, and is Wednesday 5 March this year.
Usually people who observe Lent make a special effort during that time to deepen their spiritual life. There are special study books written for this purpose, usually heavily based on scripture. Many parishes run study groups with their chosen book as the focus.
What some of us will be studying in Lent.

Forgot to mention that Lent ends on the night of Thursday 17 April, which is Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday. This begins the Triduum, which is Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Eve.
Think I'm correct in saying this - a more liturgically minded Shippie than I will no doubt correct this if needed.

Typing "Lent 2014" at the Google produces a natty little box saying:
quote:
Lent 2014 begins on Wednesday, March 5 and ends on Thursday, April 17
