I don't know how many Irish shipmates we've got, but (especially in light of the Irish rugby team's victory in the Six Nations tournament) I'd like to wish all our chums in the Emerald Isle a jolly St. Patrick's Day.

There are times when the speakers on your computer being buggered is an advantage. An Irish friend sent us one of those e-cards with pretty pictures and the Londonderry Air playing in the background - I can't tell you how relieved I was that I couldn't hear it!

And from me. Although I have bought myself British citizenhip, I still feel Irish.
I became British when I was involved in Community work, and was encouraging the Muslim ladies in my patch to take advantage of a Home Office deal of citizenship at a vastly reduced price for anyone who had been in the UK for a period of time- can not remember how long.
The ladies ponted out to me that I should take advantage of the deal myself.
I did, but still see myself as Irish first, and British second. The fact that Irish people at once pick up on my accent, and some even indentify the district of Dublin I come from reinforces my feeling of Irishness.
