I've been away from the Circus for a while. Would a simple 13 by 13 grid and no cryptic clues be acceptable? We could make the non-cryptic clues vicious, if you like. Eg clue: Love. Answer:Nil. It's a straight definition - but still devious. I can't not do devious.

piglet, at some point someone will make a grid. You can then download it, print it off, copy it out or whatever.
The game then progresses by someone setting a clue* which will fit somewhere in the grid. The other players then try to solve it. The first person to post the correct answer gets to post the next clue.
There are only two tricky parts. The first is to make sure that all the players keep their personal version of grid up to date**. The second is that towards the end of the game it can sometimes get awkward to find words that fit into the remaining spaces. Therefore it is helpful if the posters setting the clues can bear the consequences of their actions in mind. Leaving something like X _ Z _ Q isn't helpful! However, mildly challenging spaces to fill can be part of the fun.
* We'll probably defer to pimple to start us off, as it was his idea.
** Perhaps I'll try to find a way to keep an online version somewhere. No promises though.

That's right. I think it is up to you to supply a new clue. Preferably one which won't clog up the grid with Zs and Qs so that other words will fit.

Oh, and if we're working to the old rules, your next clue must be for a word which connects with one of those already on the grid - you cannot zoom over to the other side. Pity, that...

According to my grid, the clues that are currently filled are
1A - STARTED 11A - WALES 1D - SHREW
So if we stick to the old rules (not saying we should, necessarily) you can choose from 9A, 2D, 3D, 4D, and 12D.
