You know you spend too much time on the Ship when ...
... all other online engagements become a debate.
(For those of us that hang out in Purg and Hell at least )

I'm thinking this thread might be better in Heaven?

If talking about yourself, yes, Heaven.
If talking about others, possibly Hell!

I know. The moderator somewhere else told me I was "not the fairness police."
OTOH, I come back here and keep looking for the "like," button.

You know you spend too much time on the Ship when ...
you start dreaming about the witty and insightful contributions you are going to make.

You catch yourself saying to your wife, you're coming straight to Hell with me, for that remark.

You assume everyone you meet reads it too. It's awkward to talk about Hell in the Ship context to one's pastor.

( for Americans)Any time you meet anyone British, you wonder if they are a Shipmate.

I said that to my mother the Dowager once - I'll never forget the Look she gave me ...

For We British, whenever we meet an American, we wonder which shipmate they are.

You know you spend too much time on the Ship when ...

You hear about the death of a celebrity and the fateful words "twenty-six points" escape your lips before you have a chance to reconsider.

You know you spend too much time on the Ship...
...when you observe a young child being over-enthusiastic about repeating a parent's admonition to the younger sibling, and the words coming out of your mouth are "stop junior hosting".

Wait, what? Why would you need to type those more than once?

Actually, people on the American Diabetes Association website message boards are always saying that. And it seems that someone is daily having to tell others what that means. I know I've spent too much time on The Ship when I always bring a Shipmate up in conversation, in a casual way: "Oh, it was so funny when Comet was dissing Evensong about something Evensong said on the Hell boards". Sorry, Comet, sorry Evensong. You two were just an example. But I talk about things folks have said as if anyone else has a clue what I'm referring to. Then, I have to explain The Ship to the unaware...that always takes more time and people look at me like I've lost my mind.

You see a picture of Jane Austen and immediately think of Ruth W.
(sort of like hearing the William Tell Overture and thinking of the Lone Ranger )

Now I am going to think of Ruth every time I hear the William Tell overture.

When meeting up with Twitter friends (who it turns out include Shipmates), you're introduced and get the response 'oh you're the famous Carys'...
