Thread: Private thread for struggling Christians

Is there a thread for the above? Private, maybe. Is there somewhere I, among others, can discuss our problems of faith without getting torn to pieces by the wolves of those who have no doubts?

It depends on what you're after.
If you want what's effectively a support thread for people in such a situation, then All Saints is the place (as far as I'm aware support threads can include discussion of the issues themselves, though I was only an AS Host for a relatively short while). It's also probably the "safest" of the main boards, though obviously anyone can still read and post on it as long as they obey the 10 Commandments.
If "private" is the most important thing for you, then you might want to consider setting up a private board. You could then invite anyone who may be interested to join you on it to discuss matters.
We don't do private threads on the public boards though, so that option isn't on the table.

In my experience, All Saints is not normally a place where you are likely to get torn to shreds.

Or at any rate, the AS Hosts will discourage the shredder.
But usual conditions apply: posters should be able to post different takes on the topic within the broad ethos (=supportive) of the Board.

Its a good idea, but in truth, I am not sure the ship public boards are really the right place for this. I hope something happens, and you can find some support.
And check out my website for resource materials, if they are of any use, of to talk to me.

I'm not sure whether the Ship boards _are_ the place for this, but I definitely think they should be. Christian Unrest surely incorporates dealing with doubt!

I thought I'd give it a go.

It is not the ship culture that is a problem, it is the public nature of the boards that might.

It depends whether those who Nic describes as wolves can restrain themselves from using the thread to condemn, sneer or generally demonstrate their spiritual superiority really. Let's hope.

Good luck, Nic.
As for doubt, I find it far preferable and much more honest than the (sometimes terrifying) certainty of those a friend calls "strength-the-joy Christians".

Thanks for the idea and for beginning the thread. I have posted there and hope it can live a safe and caring life in All Saints. There is not much else I can still participate in on SOF, so I will try to support its progress.

I would be interested, I'm adrift at this moment. Probably hiking to the Episcopal Church but would love to talk to others who are equally lost without a paddle.
