Green shirt, woollen jumper.
Safety trainery/shoes (proper trainers had worn out).

Charcoal merino hooded top, olive-brown trou, black Blundestone Aussie boots (the one with the red elastic insert and top stitching and the red sole a la Christian Louboutin!)
Accessories: Oxford hardback compact NRSV in shades of bright green.
Cosmetics: Blusher coz I am feeling very pale

Tunic style dress made from African fabric over a pair of green lightweight trousers and brown leather flip flops.
And then we had a rainstorm which isn't meant to happen at this time of year and now it's freezing!

Vintage Laura Ashley wool and cotton mix dress in a muted red and navy floral print, with a grey waterfall cardi, grey woolly tights and red ankle boots. It is cold and wet here.

Blue jeans, faded purple jumper, trainers, Goretex waterproof. (Cycle helmet on the way to and from church, but not in church during the service.)

In honour of this festal day - Jesus Christ, King of the Universe - I wore a cream long sleeve shirt with brown trousers. I think it will be a purple long sleeved shirt on Advent I nest week.

At this time of year I dress for warmth rather than looks.

Blue and grey pullover, blue jeans, blue converse.

Posted by Sarasa (# 12271) on :

Purple tights, purple jumper and red skirt. Horrible wet day, so everything was rather damp by the time I got there. The river I walk past on the way was impressive though.

Fairly standard 'uniform':

Charcoal suit, white shirt, striped tie, black shoes - plus raincoat to get to-and-fro between car and vestry.

I finally purchased a warm-enough dress. Thank the Lord, sweater dresses are now in fashion again. So this is a snappy black one, above the knee in length and with a vivid red abstract floral patter on the front. Worn with lace fishnet pantyhose (it's not -that- cold just yet) and the only comfortable pair of black heeled pumps I own. Topped with a long black woolen duster.

A pair of these 'adventure' trousers with lots of pockets, sandals, and a T-shirt with this photograph by Pierre Verger.

I presume this is divided by a common language, but I am not quite sure what I make of going to church carrying a black version of a lambswool duster.

If you think that is bad my actual image was of yellow dusters.

Black tailored dress in a 'fifties-ish' shape.

Mustard cardigan with the top button done up.

Black tights, tan brogues.

Wool belted coat for outside.

(Another shipmate could verify this as he was at the same lunch as me. But I don't think he knows I post here too. Will be interesting to see if he reads this thread and recognises me!)

I thought about that -- duster is like boot or vest, one of those one language divided by a single tongue words. The duster I was wearing is long black wool with long sleeves, but it has no buttons or ties. It just hangs open, or is held shut by my snuggling arms. I bought it at a yard sale and if I were really provident I would take out the tattered lining and insert a new one, but I am too lazy.

black and white print top, black cardigan, tennis shoes (trainers to some of you), and black knit sweat pants. Yeah, I know. Bite me, I'm post-flu right now and as cranky as hell, and the only thing I'm interested in is surviving the service without biting somebody else's head off because I'm wearing uncomfortable clothes.

Are you a man, L'organist or just Annie Hallish in style?

I wish I has a duster to wear. Mine are all about getting the cobwebs off the cabinet tops.

I wore black silky trousers and a bright red collared sweater to match the red blush and lipstick I like to wear around Christmas. A few years ago I quit trying to look sexy and started trying to look like my new idol -- Mrs. Santa Claus.

Old walking trousers a size or 2 too large with thermal base layer underneath, Fairport's Cropredy Convention t-shirt, trainers. Sweater and waterproof were on a hook on the side most of the time.

OK, I was in there this morning to ring a quarter peal for service, and if I'm in a church on a Sunday morning I'm ringing, so I always dress for the job at hand. Given the heating system in there, thermals are a Good Thing.

Purple cowl neck sweater dress with tights and warm undershirt. High winter boots and good coat, ear band and warm gloves for the 30 minute walk with the dog before service. She was sporting her "good" black leash with her pink and black collar for her post-service visit.

Thermal leggings & vest. Grey short tunic. Oversized wool sweater. Third hand Barbour (it was pouring down). Ankle boots.

Glad I was wearing the wool and the thermals as the boiler had packed up. Brrr.

Cargo shorts, blue converse sneakers, singlet and short-sleeve shirt. The shirt was undone and only really there to add a level of neatness(ish) on top of the singlet. It was removed for the car journey home and stayed off the rest of the day.

The singlet and shirt combo, especially if the shirt is checked, is known in our house as the "gay cowboy" look.

Hiking boots (snow just turned to slush around here), trousers, shirt and jacket all from the Lands End catalogue - good casual stuff. The minister and the band all wore jeans.

Dark Levi's, check shirt, knit tie, grey tweed jacket, brown brogues. Plus a scarf and gloves for the bike ride.

It was a special afternoon communion service at the cathedral, and for once I actually found myself somewhat underdressed. Quelle treat.

Black narrow jeans and one of my collection of dark coloured T-shirts; I think it might have been my Green Man one. What I always wear when not on the bike or at work. Work makes me wear horrible flappy trousers and those shirt things with collars, which I loathe. Fortunately they don't make me wear a tie, at which point I'd be looking for a new job because I hate them with a passion.

My best jeans, cool green checked cotton shirt, trainers. I think I wore pale violet socks because I don't have any in the same shade of green, but it's Monday now and they've gone to the wash.

Didn't go as my church didn't have use of the building this week. Could've visited somewhere else, but it was pouring with rain. So had I ventured out, it would have been walking trousers and a microfleecy with an anorak on top.

I might also have taken a towel in my bag.

Black clerical shirt and trousers, black socks and shoes, white clerical collar, black cassock, white amice and alb, cincture, red chasuble, stole, maniple and a cheery smile!

On the way to and fro, clerical cloak and capello romano, because a hat is a good thing for those of us with thinning thatch (and indeed those of us who just like hats).

It's not whether they iron, but whether they rust.

Anyway, as a girl, should you not be wearing the Modest A-line Skirt of Truth?

I'll have you know my church-going attire comes from Jeanne d'Arc's very latest designer autumn collection. Guaranteed rust-free for the rest of the season, no ironing necessary, and even meets EC fire regulations. Just needs a touch of polish occasionally to keep it looking its best.

It is because of such heathens that I feel forced to wear a second tie underneath my shirt most days.

And on special occasions, a third stuffed in my trousers.

Ssunday : a cream suit, white , shirt flowery tie with reds, yellows and blues but only because I was being received into the RC church and thought it'd feel good and look good !

(it did)

Usually I go very casually dressed - at best.

Writing this Monday - worse black slacks etc and was engulfed in a fleece under the winter coat !

I wore the black slacks I always wear and the animal-ish print black and brown blouse, which was all covered by my cream and forest green robe. Granddaughter-Unit was in the choir, sans robe, but with her beautiful black, gray and white dress that her Grandmama had purchased for her the day before. [Big Grin]

US-made store-brand (Costco) blue jeans, Marks and Spencer cotton, short-sleeved, button-up shirt, brown leather belt and white Nike shoes with white socks: dressed for a day of work building a display for cars at the upcoming local auto show.

I would dress nicer if I had gone to Mass instead of adoration in the chapel or if school was not on holiday.

Today being the Feast Day of St Andrew, it was of course a day to wear the kilt. It was a Communion Sunday, so the scene was quite splendid with a number of kilted elders on duty, despite there being no organised campaign to dress up. I'm thinking about wearing it for the rest of Advent - it's so warm and comfortable.

Very dark navy puppy-tooth suit with white shirt and striped tie - yes, sounds dull but it would feel wrong to roll up in something garish or too 'dress-down'.

It was -32°C this morning, so long johns under pants, wool socks, boots, t-shirt, polypro shirt, fleece, parka, toque, 2 pairs of mitts. As usual everywhere, post-service "good mornings" from all and sundry was followed by "cold enough for you?".

If conversation lingered beyond that, it turned to snow shovelling and how none of us care much about the Grey Cup this afternoon because no-one cheers for either Hamilton nor Calgary.

We, many hundred of us have been at St John's Church at 6pm today.
There were many people talking about many bits in Bibles.
There were more than 25people singing and performing. It was excellent.
And after we had drinking things.
People were kind and nice to be there.

I went to the Scottish Church - ("Kirk" is the word often in Scotland!) in London today at 1pm Thursday. It is very good and has been for many many years.
They had trees to use for Christmas, one in the place to have singing and being talked by the man and down it is the place they have to give us tea etc and on Sundays lots of food.
