Walking Dead fans-- My nephew very earnestly told me on Thanksgiving that I was "basically a girl version of Eugene." it was clear from his tone that he meant it to be a compliment.

I got my roommate into Dr Who, so we've been binge-watching it. We haven't gotten into the classic episodes yet. Funny thing is, she already knew and loved Torchwood, but didn't know Who. (Well, she knew of it, but didn't even know Torchwood was a spin-off.)

It's weird, since I've moved back to Detroit, I rarely watch regular broadcast TV anymore. (I don't have cable, but we have Netflix on the TV.) Although I've started tuning in to Letterman and Craig Ferguson, since (a) I'm unemployed and don't have to get up in the morning, and (b) they're both leaving their shows at the end of this month.

Nothing. I want to, but on weekdays, by the time shopping, dinner and anything else are done there isn't usually much time left. I'm hoping to catch up over Christmas.

I've just realized that I've missed a programme on Art Nouveau I really wanted to see. It was the instalment on British art nouveau, as well. Ah well, hopefully they'll repeat that at some point.

The Art Nouveau is already a repeat so I doubt that it will air a third time.

I've been enjoying Portillo goes round Europe by train, the series about rebuilding medieval castles and Lucy Worsley and Len Goodman on dancing in history, which is odd as I'm not all that interested in dancing.

I don't bother with any of these Dance Off, Bake Off, Sell Off or Sing Off series. There's another word that goes with Off that springs to mind when they come on.

What is a bit depressing - is it something wrong with me or the schedules? - is that I can't think of any drama or comedy series at the moment that I can be bothered with. The one about dog training on the Wirral should be good. It has good people in it. But, for me, it's about as funny as somebody treading on a dog poop in a plastic bag.

Oh I expect they will. With more channels, more airtime and less budget, it's amazing how often the back catalogue comes round. And round. Things like Dad's Army and Morecombe and Wise seem to be practically on a loop.

Currently (UK) Masterchef, The Apprentice and Atlantis. There are over 170 episodes of classic Dr Who on the box but as I tend to sit down to watch at the same time as Mrs Rogue and she doesn't like them I'm not getting through them very quickly. And middle Rogueling likes to watch I'm a Celebrity which Mrs Rogue is getting into but I am just in the same room as.

For light entertainment Strictly and The Apprentice. Other then that, I generally watch all the history programmes on iPlayer whilst I'm sewing or cooking (Lucy Worsley is one of my favourite people, I want to work with her!) I don't have a TV so watch on iPlayer.

We finished watching the second version of Battlestar Galactica last night. It was my 4th rewatch and my wife's first watch. Many, many tears were shed, especially because we watched the last four episodes back to back.

I am now watching ST:tNG. One of the most recent episodes was "The Inner Light", which is probably my most favorite episode ever, of any series.

I keep meaning to get hold of TNG and give it a rewatch, as it's been years since I saw any! I did have the VHS Borg box many years ago, so I've seen all the Borg eps many times over, but not the rest!

A Shipmate recently put a rave for the new series Fargo on their Facebook page, and I am thinking of checking it out. Yes, it is based on the Coen Brothers movie.

Oh, missing from my list above is The Affair , a murder mystery series which follows the seperate accounts of two former lovers about an affair they had that coincided with a local murder, as told to the detective investigating the incident.It's a fascinating study in how people lie to themselves.

I was dubious at first; why remake a perfectly good film, and then as a tv series, but it turned out to be hypnotically good. There are no weak links, acting wise, fully fleshed-out characters and unpredictable plotting. Would definitely second the recommendation.

Having spent some birthday money on wishlist dvds, I've been alternating episodes of Buffy spin-off 'Angel' and later seasons of 'Drop the Dead Donkey'. The jokes in the latter barely having aged, despite being 20 years old.

That's what I have heard-- it is remarkably good. i shall have to check it out. I need something to detox from AHS. [Ultra confused]

I forgot, while I am waiting for prime time to roll around, I am getting into sitcoms I missed when they were on air. Specifically, Murphy Brown and Will and Grace.

Old favorites I still follow are Roseanne, Night Court, and the ever brilliant WKRP in Cincinnatti.

I still have to catch up on Who, I am afraid. I am waiting for the holiday marathons, so I can see it with my cousins. More fun that way.

And if you really like having lengthy analytical discussions about TV, check out PreviouslyTV created by the people who originally created Television without Pity. Check the forums. If they don't have a show you follow they have no problem setting up a board for it ( if you submit a proposal).

And they are easily as well moderated as the Ship-- something I would not say casually. Their shit is tight, they thrive on snark-- TV loving Shipmates will love it.

We got the first episode of Shetland on BBC Canada the other day, and I enjoyed it enough to want to see more of it. I must confess though that although I'm not a Shetlander* I was watching out for perceived errors - things an islander wouldn't say, like "get the inter-island ferry". They'd say "get the boat".

With the help of Google, I see that only one of the cast appears to be an actual, real Shetlander, which may explain why some of the accents didn't sound quite right.

Heh. On The Affair, the principle actors are two Britsh expats trying to fake New York/ Long Island accents. For the most part, they sound like Hollywood.

I do love Midsummer Murders and Lewis, as well as Morse. ITV3 has them on quite regularly but I now often know who dunnit from the start as I've seen them before. Often worth a re watch none the less.

ITV3 etc. are so annoying though, as they put the commercial breaks in the wrong places! So disruptive to the flow of the drama.

I really didn't like the way ITV changed the 2 hour Lewis into 2 separate episodes a week apart, I'd forgotten most of it when it came to part 2 and the little synopsis at the start didn't really help much.

My TV watching has become somewhat erratic lately. I'm suffering from too much choice (full DVR and various streaming options). I tend to opt for quick easy watch - various sitcoms, a couple of quiz shows - or binge on something I can watch the whole series of.

Watching Newsroom to see how it turns out. I really liked the first two seasons but it feels like Sorkin has taken criticism of his style too much to heart. Let Sorkin be Sorkin I say.

Can't think of much else I'm regularly watching.

Dear Lord, but the 1960s Rankin-Bass animated version of "Cricket on the Hearth" was dire. I haven't read the original but I can't imagine it was a very close retelling. [Eek!]

Watched all three episodes of Michael Palin's "Remember Me". The end was strangely unsatisfactory. Within the three-hour miniseries was a two-hour drama, trying to get out.
