Is anybody running a book on who the new boy will be? My money's on the Very Revd David Brindley, Dean of Portsmouth since 2002. Must be overdue for promotion, shurely.
Or should this be in Eccles? Or not be at all?

I knew Brindley years ago, and he's a very good bloke. But how old is he now?

David Brindley is 61.
Whoever is appointed, you can guarantee they'll go over their past with a very fine tooth-comb: to have one bishop questioned about possible past sexual offences is unfortunate, to have two...?

Two out of the last three, actually. Not terribly good.

No idea who - and I'm a local lad!!
But I wouldn't be at all surprised if the new bishop was female...

Only if the diocese is prepared to wait 6-87 months until the legislation is passed.

The only Brindley I knew was Brian. I guess this one is less colourful?

Brian Brindley was great fun.

Worth noting that all charges have been dropped
Would it be worth running a book on whether the mainstream media won't bother reporting it?

It was on breaking news on the BBC news website.
