I remember contributing to threads in the past that now I am not able to find using the search tool. Did you delete them under some ridiculous "right to be forgotten" law?

You are correct: the search tool imbedded in the Ship's software sucks so much it has an event horizon.
I suggest trying Google with site-specific parameters.

Ach, the Ship's BBS has been running on three ancient ZX80s rescued from Simon's loft and a reel of bell-wire since whenever. It's what makes it different.

If there was a "right to be forgotten" rule, there would be a whole lot of threads and posts that would disappear. Sadly, most peoples sorry history stays around for everyone to mock.
It is worth bearing in mind that the current incarnation of the board software is 10+ years old. Most commercial sites would have been replaced or at least radically updated twice in that time, utilising all of the best and most efficient search facilities and techniques.
The ship does not have the money to do that. The software is old, dated and creaky (like some of the shipmates). We just have to live with it, until someone wins the lottery and donates a pile of the money to the ship.

You can find threads in Oblivion if you know the approximate date of the last post. You will probably have to look at several pages, but you can usually find it.

One of the Admins goes into Oblivion periodically and throws some of the older threads overboard so it's possible that the thread you're looking for got ditched. It's back to 2010 at the moment and heading towards 500 pages, so it may be nearly time for another tidy.

Unfortunately, the Organ Fund donation site is one of the areas that is old, dated and creaky.
If you click on the link to pay by credit card you get an error message. It's been that way for quite some time.

Simon is a bit old school, and prefers you to personally deliver him the bags of money.

Rooted in the past, clinging to memories of better times, resistant to change, governed by an unresponsive autocracy, and always short of money. That's the Church for you.

Poor as hell, and subjected to nasty comments from random people who could make things better but prefer to take potshots--that's the Church for you.

In The Styx at the moment, we have one thread complaining that stuff has not been upgraded, improved and kept up to date, and another one saying "Why have things changed, why doesn't everything stay as we remember it used to be."
Just like the church.

I'd be happy to if he pays my airfare.
