Did anyone of you do anything special today? We have our daily Mass a little later in the day than usual on Thanksgiving (9am), in the main church rather than the daily Mass chapel, and have accompanist and cantor. We used the suggested Thanksgiving Day readings and propers. The propers are interesting, in not actually talking about Thanksgiving all that much. There's a little "America ra! ra! ra!" to them, alongside a much bigger helping of "help the needy."
We had about 70 people, which is much bigger than a normal daily Mass, but well short of our four Sunday Masses.

Our Eucharist was held in our chapel rather than the main church -- a good idea since we only had about 18-20 people. No music. Our readings were those of the Episcopal Lectionary.

St Ignatius of Antioch NYC used to have a Solemn Mass on the Wednesday evening, which I imagine is not typical! [ 28. November 2014, 01:42: Message edited by: Knopwood ]

My neighboring parishes held masses for Thanksgiving Day. I did not go this year but when I've gone in the past they've had about 30 to 40 people in attendance.

We had a lovely evening service the night before thanksgiving at Blessed Trinity Catholic Community. It was more or less evening prayer with psalms and readings and songs. The Lutheran Pastor preached a good sermon on tolerance and the need to address social problems. One of the Psalms lead by the Jewish community was in Hebrew transliterated as Tov Lehodot and a guitar tune, but done very well by their worship leader. The Orthodox taught us a psalm chant from their tradition Psalm 135 plagal of first tone, but it was in English, but very lovely. The merged choir sang a group of multilingual intercessions and We Are Not Our Own by Wren and Kreutz. We ended by singing Crueger's Now Thank We All Our God. A wonderful time was had by all in this general interfaith thanksgiving and i think that we look forward to further interfaith multilogs.
