Curricula vitae here.

Quoting from the above: "The presiding bishop-elect will preach at the convention’s closing Eucharist on July 3, and Jefferts Schori will preside."

Do tell me we have someone in Salt Lake City who can MW that!

Sorry -- I'll only be there for the first few days, leaving on Sunday, June 28.

I might be able to MW the Opening Eucharist on June 25.

Closer to the time, I'll post to see if anyone else will be in SLC for a Shipmeet.

That would be good. Are the eucharists open to the public or are they by invitation only? I haven't been in SLC in many years -- I could be tempted!

I haven't been to a General Convention in many years -- all Eucharists used to be open to the public.

P.S. The Eucharist on Sunday, the 28th, is also a big deal. I might be able to MW that one as well (or instead of the Opening).

I've emailed you, Miss Amanda.

Good thinking!

I like Michael Curry. I was in the choir at Grace Cathedral when he preached for the installation of our current bishop. A great sermon - very memorable and moving.

Why is KJS leaving? Retirement, or is there a term limit?

Cognitive disconnect at meeting in Utah. Wish there was a woman in the bunch.

[Votive] for whatever's best.

As I understand it, there is nothing to prevent a sitting PB from putting her/his name up for re-nomination. I'm not aware of it happening. It's a nine-year term, after all. Who in their right mind would want to do that for 18 years?

GK, I think many of us wish that there was a woman on the slate. The PB must be selected from among serving diocesan bishops with 5 years' tenure. The only woman meeting that qualification declined to stand.
