Hi Alan,
Rather than have posters try to decide what thread is most appropriate for their posts (it frequently depends on where where the poster is going with his argument), and then having moderators redecide using what seems to be overlapping criteria, why doesn't Ship of Fools just use the more common practice of posting in the order received?
Then the moderators can, if they feel it necessary to group what they decide are similar posts, group them under the first posting made in that series.
This arrangement seems to be the one most commonly used by the various forums I post on.
On the other hand, some major forums just leave the posts in the order received.That works to0.
I fear the Ship of Fools may be dying under the weight of all its rules!

Why not just read the instructions on the various boards and figure it out for yourself where to post, and gracefully accept correction if you get it wrong? The Ship has been sailing quite well with the current set-up. There's no reason to change it.
