Happy Easter, one and all!
Managed to get to a vigil service for the first time in a decade, so I'm happy. Now for a few hours sleep before church in the morning

Happpy Easter! The most wonderful day of the church year!
I have one question though, "Who the heck ordered snow this morning?" I just looked out(NE Kansas, USA), and there's light snow on the branches and ground, with a few flakes still falling. Chilly and wet, but SNOW?
I was out late last night for the Vigil service. It was a little more lightly attended than usual, I woouldn't want to think that the fact there was an important basketball game being broadcast had anything to do with it. BTW, the University of Kansas LOST!!! Maybe if you had been in church...
I spoke after the service with the cathedral dean and he made a joke like that. I said he should have a sermon about it and he said if he suggested the Jayhawk fans were lacking in faith he'd be ridden out of town on a rail.

We were up at 5:30 a.m., to be at the church by 6:30, so that everything would be good to go at 7 a.m. for the sunrise service. Our church is fairly elaborate with this, lighting the Paschal candle, processing down the darkened aisle, and then processing all the altar vessels and vestments up, in order. Members of the congregation do this, and sometimes it is fraught, and Altar Guild members are strategically placed to set the table and arrange the vessels. Today we mysteriously wound up with two palls. Since we need only one, I kept the other in the pew until after the service.

Brenda Clough, that sounds like the reverse of stripping the sanctuary.

Happy Easter, you Westerners! Χριστός ἀνέστη! Христóсъ воскрéсе! Christ is risen!
May the joy of the resurrection fill you with joy on this Feast of the Resurrection!
We'll be right with you, give us 5 weeks.

In many places today doors, physical ones, or those of hearts, are locked for fear and we are tempted to withdraw into ourselves; but the risen Christ passes through walls of all kinds, stands among (not over) us, says "peace be with you" (twice) - and sends us out, accompanied by the breathed-in power and authority of the Holy Spirit, with a message of forgiveness - Hallelujah!

Christ the Lord is risen. The tomb is empty to show us Life and Love do not end at the grave. Hallelujah!
