Early this morning at a night club in Orlando, Florida, 50 people were killed and 53 hospitalized by a lone gunman spraying bullets into the crowd. Pulse, the nightclub, caters to gay men, so this appears to be a hate crime and is being called "Domestic Terrorism" perhaps in part because the shooter, although American-born, has ties to Islamic extremists.

I started this thread to commemorate the dead and lift up the wounded and their families, not to argue about Islam or homosexuality or gun control.

May their memories be eternal. May their loved ones find solace.

So horrifying. I kept hoping the number of those killed would be under twenty, but it turned out to be so much worse Praying for all the family, friends and survivors and that this doesn't give other violent people ideas for copycat crimes.

My nephew in Orlando ( who is straight but not narrow, and sometimes parties with his gay friends) used a Facebook app to let everyone on his friends list his status was "safe" .

I'm freaked out and unable to process their death and what appears to be an unrelated freakish death of the young singer gunned down in Orlando too the day before. Thank God the LA Pride terrorist guy was stopped.

I am unable to process this.

I keep think of Depeche modes song...

Have just returned from a vigil - balloons, loads of people and the cathedral open for candle-lighting.

Someone harangued the dean because it was the church's fault that hate crime happens.

May the angels lead you into paradise; may the martyrs receive you at your arrival and lead you to the holy city Jerusalem. May choirs of angels receive you and with Lazarus, once poor, may you have eternal rest.

A week of mourning in our house for brothers and sisters never met but now gone……. Knowing that had such occurred years ago it may have been us….. made worse by an interfaith vigil that was more about Islamophobia than Homophobia. As one of two out gay clergy there was torn between more tears or anger. I opted for tears…… the other for anger…..

Sad all ‘round.
