Which was the best thread on the boards in 2008? What thread has offered fantastic value in terms of news, debate, satire, the chance to participate... or just sheer entertainment? This is where you can nominate the thread you think is one in a thousand. The award is for the thread and the handful of shipmates who have contributed most to it.
When nominating on this thread, please follow the format shown in the next post. If you don't have all the info you need to complete the nomination fields, you're not yet ready to nominate. Just make a regular post asking for the help of others in finding what you're looking for.
How to find out the URL for an individual post: go to the post and find the tiny page icon which is just to the left of the date (at the top of the post). Right-click the icon (or on a Mac, control-click it) and select "copy link" from the dropdown menu. You can now paste the link URL into your nomination.
Please note: Your nomination post should simply contain your nomination and nothing else.

Nomination, maybe because I'm not sure if it's eligable.
I nominate: The Political junkie POTUS prediction thread
For: Best Thread
Thread URL: It's here
Special mention: Oh my, far to many people to mention, but at least MJG for starting it, Comet, for her insite into Alaskan politics and culture after Palin's ascendency, New Yorker, because his concerted asshattery helped make it what it was, and that's three. Any other suggestions?
My reasons for nomiating, and why I say it may not be eligable: It was started in 2007, so it may not be eligable even though the majority of its 111 pages of delight were done in 2008. The reasons for it's nomination if its ruled eligable should be obvious. What other thread continued so long, never losing freshness and interest? Even if it's ruled ineligable for the actual award, I think it's due some sort of special honorable mention.

Nicolemrw: Given that 108 of the thread's 111 pages were posted on in 2008, I think we can safely say that it's eligible.

Seconded (I was considering nominating that.) It gave a great insight into American politics, really interesting to have so many different perspectives. Probably especially good because it was such an unpredictable and historic race for the White House.

Nicole's being too modest to mention herself but a great part of the POTUS thread's fun were the unusual bits of information she found and linked for us.

Nomination
I nominate: The Bible, Non-stop: GENESIS
For: Best Thread
Special mentions: Lynn MagdalenCollege who took Twilight's idea and ran with it. There were many fine contributions by many posters but to mention a few major contributors there were the Pilgrim, Alienfromzog, pimple, and Mousethief. (The music is rising- please forgive me for leaving out other major posters like....hmmm hmmm dah dah dah...)
My reasons for nominating: This wonderful beginning of the Bible Non-stop is such a worthy Ship project. It's fun, creative, informative, and is the kind of thing that perks up a board like Kerygmania which, wonderful as it is, can get a bit dry. This brought the seminal book of the Bible to life for both posters and readers. And it makes the Ship look like it just might be a Christian website. Even if a reader has just wandered in from Hell.

I nominate: The 2008 Ship of Fools Celebrity Death Pool
For: Best Thread
Link: Nominated thread
Special Mentions: Sandemaniac, especially his post of 'disapproval', Matt Black, Jahlove, Uriel's advice
Reason: Sort of dark humor when done the way it is intended. Allows one to show that twisted side everyone has but few admit to. Also adds a few twists not seen in other Celebrity Death Pools I have seen.

I nominate: How Did You Meet Your Partner? (I think it was called)
For: Best Thread
Thread URL: Sorry, I have searched and searched but I am going to have to rely on a kind soul to give the link. It was started by Anglican_Brat.
Special mentions: Pretty well all of the posters
My reasons for nominating: People were writing about how they met their beloved, and the posts were just radiant.
