We recieved an email from Morladres yesterday to say that Morlader, Alan, had lost a 4 year fight against cancer on the 13th March. The Ship meant a lot to him - this is what Morladres writes:
Alan - "Morlader" - enjoyed the Ship of Fools because he discovered kindred spirits among shipmates, particularly in regard to his love of Anglican church music, his desire for ceremonial to enrich the liturgy and for the liturgy to be just right, and also in regard to his love for the Cornish language and all things Cornish. Alan was highly impressed by the erudition of some of those who post on the Ship. ....Finally of course, Alan did find comfort and consolation through reading other shipmates' experiences of cancer. The Ship was important to him - I don't know how often he posted, but he was certainly on his iPad on the Ship two or three times a day until the day before he died.
Darllenwr, Lord Pontivillian and I got to know him via two "mini meets" when we were on holiday in Cornwall. He was a charming, perceptive man, and he will be missed. RIP Alan aka Morlader

That's really sad - I remember his posts as he often posted on threads I found interesting and remember him as someone worth reading.
Thinking of his family at this time.

As a cancer survivor, I followed Morlader and his struggles with cancer closely. I also enjoyed his posting style. I rejoiced with him when things were good, and prayed for him when things were bad.
And now, he enters my list of cancer victims. May his soul rest in peace.
