Ret, welcome to the ship!
I think your approach is a good one. When you read large chunks of the Bible at one time, you get a feel for it.
At my chuch, every year during Holy Week we read an entire gospel; each chapter is read by a different person. I have a much deeper understanding of the gospels I have heard read that way.

Reading a gospel with my Youth Group - - Split into 3 teams
- Teams take chapters in rotation
- Teams look at their chapter - and make up an instant drama / mime
- Best done after morning service - be surprised how many people wander back into church to watch and listen.
- Don't rush to get through the full gospel - set a time limit.
- Retire for Youth Group lunch where the activity just mind come under discussion - or maybe not.

Welcome aboard, Ret. Glad to see you chose kerygmania for your first post. As you have read most of the Old Testament, you'll be able to speak from a position of greater knowledge than most of us ![[Wink]](wink.gif)
