Ta very much Erin, they used to do that at the secondary school I attended. Being far more prosaic they called it 'having your head pushed down the lav'.
There's me thinking it was something sexual.(Right, well I know there are some weird b******s out there.)
(Apologies for derailing the thread).
Re: going to watch porn. Despite arguments about choice, I tend to find porn exploitative. And there's something sordid and rather embarrassing about it. Also, from my limited viewing of it, the acting's really crap. I prefer films where sex is explored in a more intelligent and less in your face way.

Well, I went to a lecture by Jo Ind at Greenbelt last year (she's a very good speaker) and she said that there are people who are "visual" and people who are "cerebral". Regarding what turns you on. There are some other categories as well, auditory might have been one of them.
Now, I suspect "cerebral" is pretty relevant to me. Because I don't really notice whether I find someone attractive or not - hardly ever, anyway - until they say something strikingly intelligent or make me laugh. And then I might think " Oh and so-and-so is rather cute too".
Being wired up like that makes porn a bit redundant, because the most interesting part of what makes the person tick is not what you're seeing.
That and having seen, I suppose, several hundred people naked over the years working as a doctor, you really have seen various versions of it all before. And I guess you can develop a degree of detatchment about the sight of naked flesh. (As I write this it occurs to me that this may have some human disadvantages). Of course, different people deal with this in different ways...
So if I went to a porn meet in Manchester & Erin & Fregory were there, I would really be more interested and amused by their presence than in the porn itself. I think so, anyway.
Is it unChristian to talk about a pornmeet? well there is certainly a bit of a frisson there...

I wouldn't have thought a meet of this sort would be arranged on the boards; I would have thought it would be arranged by PMs.
The same way Orgymeet is.
Does that mean this year's OM will be arranged via a thread? It would certainly cut down on the work for the organisers.

I've always heard that bit, too, about visual people liking porn and the average man being more visual than the average woman as an explanation for the huge sales of Playboy vs the puny sales of Playgirl etc. What I don't understand is straight men wanting to look at porn along with other straight men or a bunch of straight women wanting to shop for sexy langerie together.
Pondering.

Sasha - I think the point for the girls would be "having a bit of a laff". Especially if the lingerie were appalling rather than sexy (as I suspect most of it is). Girltalk is fun.
JohnBoot - yes I think that must be it. Though I didn't know that was Oscar's predilection. Surely, as an aesthete, he would have found it too...rumpling...

Indeed. Even lingerie sold in "mainstream" stores has to have been designed by men rather than women. The designers should be forced to wear their creations for 24 hours in a mirrored room before trying to market them.

Pants - British-produced porn is a lot more explicit than it used to be. Until very recently however it couldn't be sold in the UK. However thanks to the EU it now can.

Erin meets Lifeman at a Pornmeet in Manchester-the-one-in-the-UK?
Passport still valid? Check. Funds available for plane ticket? Check. Internet working so plane reservations can be made? Check. Females not invited? Check. Tough shit, we'll come anyway? Check.
OK, I'm just waiting for confirmation that Erin will be there. And what flicks we'll be watching.
And it should be the International Porn Meet in Manchester. (Why should the Colorado Meet be the only one to get the glory of being "International"?)

To introduce a bit of class into an otherwise tawdry thread, this afternoon I was reading the dear Duchess's (of Windsor, in case any morons don't know) comment to a guest in Paris who wanted to see the revue at the Lido:
"The only naked woman worth seeing is one you've undressed yourself."
...or man either.

I do get the tail and the strapadictomy confused tho. Which does go at the front?

My -erm- fantasy of really great porn would be to have my favorite sexy but main-stream movies on DVD with X-rated out-takes. Perhaps (in my fantasy) this would be down the line when the more stuff could be done digitally instead of by our modest, decent, main-stream actors. And that way the sex wouldn't derail the story line, I'd be invested in the characters, and I could play the scenes over and over. Bull Durham or almost any of the James Bond movies come to mind. This thread is worse than primetime (by far). Yeah, I'm pretty disgusted with the others. Yes yes yes, I know, I didn't have to click on the thing, but I was curious, so I did, and there you have it. For a moment I thought, "maybe I'm just a legalist and I should chill out," but I'm gonna have to second-guess myself on that one. I think perhaps it's not actually "my hang-up/problem," but rather, it is the thread that is the problem. That's my feeling, anyway. Mature discussions about sexuality can be great, but what's the value in this? Watching porn can do serious damage-- not to mention what it does to those appearing in it? I like it when people seriously discuss and engage with sexual issues. I certainly identify with the struggle to stay away from porn-- maybe we could talk about that? But seriously, we don't need to contribute to our society's downward spiral of screwed up sexuality.

Personally I always wait until new electronics come down in price before I buy them. Indeed, I still haven't bought a DVD player or a digital camera.
But once they really perfect vitual reality porn, I shall be first in line at Circuit City to buy one, regardless of price. Then, if I can get liquor and cigarettes delivered, I'll never have to leave the house on weekends.

People usually don't know if they are going to like something until after they've read it. If fact commenting on threads before reading them is usually discouraged; otherwise "commenting" is what this board is all about.

Indeed. IME, it's best to regard everyone as a prude until they have specifically stated otherwise. I get into less trouble that way.

I am a prude, but that really isn't the problem I'm having with this thread. Yes, it's easy enough to choose not to read it (or want to know who is participating in it); however, whenever I bring up the screen to show me "Today's active threads"... there it is, usually right near the top, for anyone nearby to see, too. It has taken quite an effort and some time to convince my family that this is a Christian Website ™, and if they see that heading, it's going to take some 'splaining, Lucy.
Just wish there was a way to do this without making the thread titles so explicit. (I'm not even going to discuss the "F**k me" thread.) It has certainly hampered my willingness to post lately.

Lyda, re: your reply. Guess I was thinking of something more cerebral. Something which intelligently examines trangression, perhaps?
I saw an oddly compelling movie called 'Spider' on video last week that took a really bad case of Oedipus complex as its theme. On first viewing I wasn't so impressed but it's stayed in my head for days - haunting, really. Sexuality is a great theme for movies.
Fact is, part of being human has to do with dealing with our erotic urges - guess that's why some people (even Christians) find relief in porn. I admit the idea of a Christain group meeting to watch porn was quite mindboggling: that's why I bothered to read this thread in the first place -unless I was simply being prurient!
I don't like porn films and wouldn't want to watch one, especially not with people I've never met and with whom I converse about my Christanity on the internet . Guess it's time to leave this thread to who do.
