I don't recall, but wouldn't be surprised. It's all in the fun - and rounds like this are more fun than others.
I challenge anyone else to spend all their money on a stock they have never heard of.

I wonder if my virtual shares from last time are still worth anything; I seem to remember I lost my password or something, so the things may still be on there.

I have joined. It shows me as Mr Day as that is what I am under for school and I thought iI'd use the same account (Having two would screw with me big time)
I have been doing this since Sept, so have lost £8000 in less than 2 months. I am glad I am not a stock broker...

I am dissapointed to see my shares went backwards while I slept. I have been trying to research today... hahaha. I usually end up confusing myself.
I did find the 'FTSE heatmap' under 'guides and research' was useful. Have a look.

What a shocker I've had today. I think I may have the most volatile portfolio.
At what point do we all jump out the window?

Indeed I am. Couldn't be bothered to start another account. Am hoping that I'll do better here than on our school league.
Buy, buy, buy!
By the way - the stock reports and research info is quite helpful. Good also to check how you are doing several times a day.

It did occur to me that not investing money was not especially in keeping with the Parable of the Talents. But then, what's the point in investing money when the time period's too short to pay off the initial fees from the investing? Better to keep the money, so that we can use it to gain friends for ourselves.

Yes, thank you Moth, and all the other quizmates who posted on my thread. You may have noticed that it has sunk without trace now, which is a pity as I'd still like an answer which would allow me to sing it without that niggle.
Ecclesiantics can be quite interesting.

Is helping your shares along a bit allowed? For example, I think I've bought some fantasy shares in Laura Ashley, and today I bought a scarf from there. Feeling vaguely guilty, but have a very pretty scarf. On balance, think I'm OK.

ROUND SEVENTEEN: LAKES AND RIVERS
Previous Knockout Quizzes have seen the competitors find the largest lakes and the longest rivers. This time you need to find the LAKE with the most RIVERS attached, or find the RIVER that flows through the most LAKES.
I will need internet proof and each lake and river must have a name. You cannot point at that blue line or that blue blob.
So to post your entry, and I need to get stricter now, you will need the following information:
1) NAME (Lake or River)
2) NUMBER (Rivers or Lakes attached)
3) LIST OF NAMES (The attached)
4) INTERNET LINK where I can verify your claim
Good luck as we are now in single figures and approaching the climax. There should be no more passengers at this stage.
The person eliminated will be the one who finds the fewest connections, or, who fails to meet the criteria for posting.
ALSO-RANS: You can post to deny the competitors the chance to use whatever entry it is that you opt for.

Do we need to be able to name all the lakes/rivers the subject interacts with, or is there just a minimum number?

I will take out Lake Ladoga in Finland. the three most important inlets are the rivers Svir, Vuoski and Volkhov and it drains by way of the river Neva. There are 3,500 rivers longer than 10 km in its basin, which I do not need to list as I am an also-ran; the four I've listed will do to snaffle the largest lake in Europe.

My entry:
NAME: The Volga (river)
NUMBER: 9
LIST OF NAMES: As well as the Caspian Sea, which, while salt water is still a lake, I only need to claim the Uglich, Rybinsk, Gorodets, Nizhniy Novgorod, Cheboksary, Samara, Saratov, and Volgograd Reservoirs, all of which have hydroelectric power facilities. There may be others too, but that's enough to get me safe.

Hmmm I started research this morning but could not get sufficient detail to post. I am hosting a kid's party today ( in about 2 hours) so will plead with QM not to close off this round for another 12 hours or so...

I am going to nominate for my entry florida's St John's River .
The timucan Indians gave the river the name Welaka which means 'river of Lakes'.
A further link here.
The two links I have given will give the information that the following lakes are formed by this beautiful river.
- Lake Hell n blazes
- Sawgrass Lake
- Lake Washington
- Lake Winder
- Lake Poinsett
- Ruth Lake
- Lake George
- Little Lake George
- Puzzle Lake
- Lake Harney
- Lake Monroe
- Doctor's Lake
- Crescent lake
and finally a man made lake Rodman Reservoir.
A lovely collection of 12 natural lakes, and one man made Reservoir.
The links do verify the lake names, but you have to read a bit. If you are a fisherman you might get some ideas.

As I am off on holiday for a while today, I nominate my majestic village pond (6' x 10'), which has no rivers at all, but some very nice ducks; in the knowledge that I'll be safely eliminated and the rest of you can roll merrily along! I look forward to catching up with developments on my return...
