Sorry All.
I was out enjoying a Bonfire Party last night and it was a good one so I have left it until today to check my finances.

ROUND TWENTY ONE: THE CHALLENGE
In this round you have to set a challenge for the other competitors. The answer must be traceable on the internet. Once all the challenges have been set you must do your best to meet the challenge.
You all have until Monday night to set the challenge and PM me the webpage where the solution can be found.
You then have until Friday to meet all the other challenges. PM me your answers once finished.
The person to score fewest correct answers, or in the event of a tie, the last person to do so, will be eliminated.
Also-Rans are welcome to submit challenges as well and these will be used as tiebreakers.

I think that's fair...

Okay...I tried...
An equation in the form z(n+1) = z(n)^2 + C, where C is a constant complex number (i.e. -0.379 + 0.587i) form the basis for fractal patterns known as Julia sets. These differ from Mandelbrot set in that C is held constant through the iterative process of calculating values to be plotted in the Argand diagram. Examples of Julia sets can be found here

Imagine you have a curved object (e.g. an egg or even a spinning top) rolling around on the floor. What is the technical name for the path it follows on the floor? Not the shape of the path, but the path itself...

I'll set a very simple challenge, but am unsure whether I am going to be able to compete any more due to the time restrictions of travelling to and from Dad's nursing home.
Simple challenge - what is the name given to the protective covering on various ropes on a sailing ship which protects the ropes and the sails (note the deliberate avoidance of the correct nautical terminology ) from chafing, and how is it made? Please link to a webpage which describes this in simple terms.

I should mention that I really like this round. It seems a genuine test of skill, both in setting and in finding answers to the questions. There's a bit of luck, general knowledge and psychology in there too of course.
Oh, and as a science teacher, I'm pleasantly surprised by the number of sciencey ones...
ETA - even if I have spent several hours trying to track down a couple of the answers.

ROUND TWENTY TWO: THE SERMON
You have to write a Sermon that could be read out in church on a Sunday but which brings many of the aspects of the Knockout Quiz so far into reasoned argument.
PM me the Sermons (also welcome from Also Rans) and I will distribute them for marking by all those who submit a sermon.
Timescales: Good work takes time so I shall give you all week and I need the sermons by PM on or before Friday 18th. Marking will be next weekend.
The Sermons will be published for comment and marks will be taken from all competitors and those Also-Rans who submit a sermon.
