Ambo Beach
From 9 til 10 I have to spend my time in church
The sermon's very boring I play 'Rude hymn search'
I drop my offering into the silver tray
It's all mediocre, dunno if I will stay.

Ambo Beach
Might be a waste of time
Ambo Beach

Ambo Beach etc.

Reading Heights (Kate Bush [Overused] )
Out in the draughty, barren nave
We chant, intone and sing
You have a polity, like my future see:
Too hard. Too narrow.
How could you leave me?!
When I needed to, be ordained by you?!
I promised you: I didn't screw!

Conservatives in the night
Told me I was going to lose the fight
Leave behind my Reading, Reading,
Reading Heights-

Rowan! It's me, Jeffrey!
I've come home
I'm so-o-o-o shafted
Let me into my palace.

Rowan! It's me, Jeffrey! (etc)

Oh yes, I have breasts
But I've seen man-boobs bigger too

Both Nico and Joy Division recorded completely different songs by the same name: Feast Days
(Joy Division also recorded Day of the Lord)

Nico continued, with the unforgettable
Sacristan of Lunacy and
The Fairest of Church Seasons

Not to be outdone, John Cale recorded
Holy Ghost Story
Big White Cloud of Witnesses

And who could forget the Velvet Underground's
I'm Waiting for the Mass
All Tomorrow's Altar Parties
I'll Be Your Mohel

Early on, The Cure recorded
10.15 Saturday Night Mass
Three Seminary Boys

David Bowie had a hit with
Scary Monsignors

And then there's the Janis Joplin classics
Pray (Just a Little Bit Harder)
Me and Father McGee

Thanks, Jahlove! [I'd been pondering that humour on threads like this is an unsettlingly feedback-free process. Unless you come up with something that amuses somebody enough for them to spend a whole post nicely telling you, you could be writing rubbish or quite reasonable stuff and have no way of telling. It makes me insecure... [Ultra confused] The software should incorporate a discreet way of registering a mild chuckle]

Well, dam, technically, but that sounds so uncouth. 400 years ago the proper translation of "Theotokos" would have been "Godsdam" but that probably looked wrong even then.

ackshully, *Godsdamn* is exactly the word Terry Pratchett uses as an oath in the mouths of his characters (since there's a multiplicity of gods on Discworld)

Has anyone notice how Christians seem to take ANY pop song we like and Christianise them?

Like A Prayer
Open Your Heart
Kyrie Eleison (Mr. Mister)
Who's that Girl (Madonna)
Faith
Dancing Queen
Get Outa My Dreams and Into My Car
La Bamba
Don't Worry, Be Happy
Red, Red Wine
Sexual Healing

Or I do anyway.

Or to get back to the game:

Have You Ever Really, really, really loved a Spirit?

Kiss From a Rosary

You're Once, Twice, Three Times a Deity

Father Don't Preach!

--------------------
All hearts are open, all desires known
