I chose my list of supercentenarians to disprove the theory that it is a good tactic to put very old people on your list. Despite only choosing people aged 110 or more, 8 out of 13 are thankfully still with us at the back end of December.
Those picking a list for 2009 take note - the seriously elderly are good at not dying. If you want to compete in this competition then serious ill health is a better predictor.
