Digging seems to be a bit of a theme here! If it rains as forecast tomorrow, it will be the last I get done for a while - allotments on a watermeadow tend not to drain well. It was noticeably stickier underfoot with the thaw setting in today than it was yesterday... So glad I've got a shedload done, and got a big chunk that still had to be reclaimed from the brambles dug! Oh yes, isn't this the fitness race thread?
2hrs heavy digging 15 mins + 10 mins bellringing, and getting there and back makes
13hrs 40minutes.

Yesterday - another lazy Saturday with just 15 minutes of walking, but 1 hour 30 minutes of dancing in the evening at my friend's birthday do.
Today - an epic (for me anyway) 3 hours 25 minutes walking, including me and my friend doing what we figured was probably a ten-mile trek from her flat via the park to my house, then down the canal and back along the main road to her flat.
Everything from my thighs downwards is aching now. On the plus side, however, my total is now 15 hours 45 minutes.

Walking on the treadmill - 65 minutes watching a movie about Martin Luther King Jr. - hated to stop before it ended
Strength exercises listening to CBC podcasts - 50 minutes
Didn't get to go skating again today. It was -22 in the morning but it did get up to -12 today but it was very damp and cold.
Running total: 18 hours 10 minutes

Friday: 40 minutes of walking, plus a ceilidh in the evening. Discussion with luvanddaisies (who was there) puts that at about 1hr 30.
Saturday: 30 minutes of walking, and a lot of talking to people. If only that counted as exercise...
Sunday: 30 minutes walking again.
So total for the last few days is 3 hrs 10. Must do more walking!

Sun Jan 11: 45 min. walking, plus 10 min. shoveling snow. A lovely light crisp winter low-temp snow, but needing shoveling all the same. (Is that sad or what, that I'm attuned to seasonal variation in snow?)

Not a bad weekend. Not a great one either though.
Friday (cont): 10 mins walk home Saturday: 180 mins dancing (had a five-hour class for future teachers, spent some of it teaching and some of it sitting out feeling a bit eurk) Sunday: 5 mins walking in and out of church and up and down friends stairs for lunch! Monday (so far): 7 mins walk/bike to uni (can't explain how that takes nearly the same amount of time as walking - is a bit uphill I guess)
Total for this post: 202 minutes or 3 hours and 22 minutes
Running total 392 minutes or 6 hours and 32 minutes

Today...
30 minutes cycling - commute 1 hour dancing - I did a 1 and a half hour ballroom and latin class and I think that's about the amount of time I spent actively doing something. 30 minutes cycling - to and from dance class.
Most of the cycling was done in the pouring rain. I think I preferred the cold snap.
Anyway, running total: 19 hours 4 minutes.
Rachel.

Went to Boat Show today. Spent HOURS walking around show (miles! for those who don't know it the exhibition hall is enormous) but I doubt that counts. Saw a remarkably athletic show and a live interview with Sam Davies (just out of the Southern Ocean)(as if the poor girl hasn't got enough to do)). Which doesn't count either though it makes me tired just looking. And spent lots of dosh, which doesn't count. What does count is the walk between home/rail stations/Underground/Docklands Light Railway/exhibition. At least 2 miles / 30 minutes, thus running total 16h 50 m.

I think I overdid it yesterday:
I cycled 35 minutes to uni, walked 20 minutes with friends to and from an interesting exhibition, cycled 10 minutes to indoor climbing, spent almost four hours at the climbing gym (which I'll count as 2 hours of activity) and then cycled 35 minutes home again. I'm so tired today that I haven't even been slacklining! Yet...

I don't know. I suppose the chances are good that I will; my mother had both her hips replaced six years ago--and she was only 53 years old. She was/is about 80# overweight, and the additional weight puts extra strain on her joints that aggravates her arthritis.
I'm overweight too, and am hoping to stave off hip replacement as long as possible for myself by getting more fit and slimming down. It's going to take a permanent lifestyle change, and to that end, I joined Overeaters Anonymous back in October. To date I've lost 10#, but the biggest differences in myself I've noticed are in being more calm, serene, forgiving, feeling that I'm drawing closer to God and finally experiencing freedom from obsessing about food (either by eating too much or rigidly controlling and writing down what I do eat). So the weight loss is really just a bonus.
On Friday I did another 1 hour, 15 minutes of vigorous housework, and last night I swam for 30 minutes. My running toal is 5 hours.
