A while ago we had a fairly active thread for photography. I learnt a lot from it. However it lapsed and for various reasons I mainly used my phone. However, my son has challenged me with a 52 weeks challenge. I took out the Fuji XT and gulped . I hardly knew where to start without a goodly amount of thought first.

This challenge is interesting. One photo a week, not one a day like Project 365 which I have done twice at least. Each week has a theme and I can see that there should be a progression of knowledge and practice.

There is no set place for publication, FB and Instagram can be used with hashtags Flickr and similar is also fine. I have not used Flickr since Yahoo made such a mess of it.

Here is the URL with more details if you are interested and a list of the weekly topics. The challenge is not date related so could be started in July etc. Just number what week your photo is from.

Dogwood photography challenge.

That looks good Lothlorien - I shall read it more thoroughly later; I think I may well be a participant.

It looks an interesting challenge - but I am put off by the requirement for a selfie as the first week's image - and the last. I looked at the follow up challenge which has no selfies and fewer portraits, but there are a lot of technical requirements - 30s exposures - that I am not sure I can achieve easily.

I really need a photography challenge that is achievable to focus on and at the moment a full 365 is too much.

I am wondering about just for fun trying to take a photo each week that fits with the BBC theme.

CK, it says there are three possibilities, a portrait, a landscape or an artistic impression. Will have a closer look later today.

I wonder if your link went elsewhere. This is what I was referring to.

Ah, that's the second version - which was the one I said might be challenging to do - 30s exposure and light painting being one of the challenges. That pretty much requires a DSLR to be able to do it.

(I looked at the first one and thought I'd done most of that at some stage.)

Hmmm, that looks interesting, too - and less demanding.

Choices, choices!

So, is anyone still involved in the challenge?

I've been talking a lot of pictures of sunrises and sunsets on my iPhone. Not the best of pictures, but certainly not the most terrible, either!

What a coincidence. I was thinking of this yesterday. Weather has been wet, to say the least. sweetest March in an enormous number of years. I have not been outside much as I have been using a walking stick and am very careful. The wet tiles do not go well with the rubber on end of cane and I have almost slipped a couple of times when I could not see floor was wet. I am thinking I may make my own challenge.

Today's could well be the installation of four lovely new blinds to replace some very bedraggled ones which were here when OI moved in six years ago.

I did the project 365 and learned a lot doing so. I find that, for me and at this time, it is more limiting than challenging. I need other things to break habits and extend my capabilities.
So I like this thought:

In photography, but also in doing other things to {i]help[/i] my photography. I find that doing things which challenge my brain open up new directions in unrelated projects and snaps me out of routine.
