Many thanks for the hostly welcomes given after my somewhat depressing post in Prayers and the suggestions on reading: I've been through the 10 Commandments and FAQs and various other Styx threads. I'm based in Cape Town as a freelance editor and writer, know the UK fairly well, am Roman Catholic and look forward to getting to know others here.

Hi to all. I'm new to the board though a long time lurker.

I don't have any formal religious affiliation or any faith of my own. I'm an open-minded agnostic but very interested in spirituality and faith as I deal with these issues very much in my work as a nurse in an Oncology hospital which deals with end of life care on a daily basis.

This seems like a very lively community with a wide range of beliefs and opinions and a very open-minded approach to spiritual matters. I hope that I can contribute to the community positively and also draw on the range of knowledge and faiths on here to actively help my understanding of spirituality and faith.

Hello, Avey, and welcome aboard! [Smile]

If you take a minute or two to look at the "FAQs" and "10 Commandments" pages (links at the top of the page), you should find everything you need to know about how the boards operate, but if anything still puzzles you, don't be afraid to ask!

Wishing you a long and happy voyage with us.

I have recently joined. And I have just posted a question too [Smile]

I am Anglican, and appreciate the traditions of the Anglican church and look askance at some of the managerialism and lack of depth in parts of the C of E today. Maybe that shows my age!

I look forward to being part of things here, but may not come aboard as often as I would wish.

Welcome Lionel and an apology from another host for this board. I usually carefully check new member notices but had not seen yours till I read WW's post immediately above. Have a happy voyage and ask if anything puzzles you as well as asking questions you need "ecclesiastical" answers for. Lots of knowledgable sailors here.

The "Whom shall we send?" thread had dropped to page 4, so I've bumped it back to page 1 -- hoping this is what you want.

Hello, there, I'm back again, too. Not an Anglican. United Church of Canada, Lutheran background, but my parents were RCC and C of E, when mixing them was considered a poor idea.

I hesitate to admit that I'm back sort of by default. Beliefnet is no more, and my own UCC site was closed, and I'm finding places to talk amicably about religion hard to find these days, except for my Tuesday Night group, and one cannot live on Tuesday nights alone.

Hope I will develop into an active poster this time.

having read the bits about what SoF is about, it seems perfect for me to jump in and grab a paddle. Much unhappy with church these days! I was a sheltered little lad, but have been sort of going on a mental nature hike as far as the Bible and Christianity. I just don't want to screw up my kids in the same way my parents screwed me and my siblings. I'll invent new ways!
