By typing it in that way when they make the edit. There's nothing automatic about those notes.

In the first link on your first post you had http: twice which stopped it working. You'll find that when you click on the URL button and it makes a window for you to put the URL in, the http: is already in place. It catches me out sometimes.
I guess the third link in your first post is a made-up page...
Your second post worked fine, but I think you left a space between the = and the http: which is why it didn't look quite right on the page.
Whenever I do a link, I use preview post to check it out first and then look carefully to see where I went wrong, which I quite often do!

Cheers. Yep, figured out the http x 2 thing.
Sadly I don't have preview post. I'm in a non-Western country on a mobile phone connection, so I have to do without luxuries like pics and javascript. I'm looking forward to moaning about this one day to my grandkids. "fibre optic connection? You kids don't know you're born. When I were a lad..."
As for the second post, it's still not working, unless you're seeing something I'm not. I don't want the url to appear within the text but I can't work out what's wrong with the code. Any ideas?

At a guess, it might be the punctuation in the URL itself. Try running it through tiny url first.

Question to the void:
How do you link to a post so when a reader clicks on the link, it goes right there, rather than the index page or the top of the page of that thread?

The void speaks ...
I myself asked this a few pages ago and was asked to click on a link like this. Unlike me, you are probably sensible enough to actually read it and learn, rather than go "yes, like that, how do you do it?"
And while I'm here ... sig test.

Check the top of the list in Kerygmania. The instructions for the Greek alphabet should be there.

HOORAY - I think - but why does & trade ; need a semi-colon at the end to work, when all the others work without it?
