Help, please!
Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong in the link in my location?
Do links not work in that field? I've used them in my sig, before. And when I plug the link directly into a post, it previews ok.
Thanks! ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

Sorry, it seems the location field is not parsed as code - it's just for text.

Something to see if an avatar (and sigfile) has been updated. Other sites update these these things on earlier posts. I've no opinion which is the preferable way of doing things.

How do you make it go bold? Why does this site not just allow you to use the bold function freom the top like any other?

The easiest way to make something bold is to type the code right into your post. Type a [ b ] (without the spaces) at the beginning of what you want bolded and [ /b ] (without the spaces) at the end of what you want bolded.

Also: Italics work the same way. Substitute the letter i for the b described above.

Thank you. I've never encountered this in my life before. It seems rather a convoluted way of doing it when one can usually just highlight and click bold from the tool bar! And the information provided by the UBB thing below is absolute gobbledegook. Thank you anyway.

Nice one sebby! Next thing to try is quoting. At the top of the post you want to quote from you will see a symbol that looks like a quotation mark. Click on that and you'll be taken to a screen that looks similar to the normal "reply" screen, but wioth the text you want to quote. Delete any text you dont want.
Give it a go!

OK, what is it you don't understand? Ask away and someone here will try and de-gobbledegook it for you. That's what this thread is for.

I don't try to do it with the code, but use the Instant version from below. All you do is click the button and type in the box. Preview Post is also very helpful.

Sebby, if you want to use a bold function that you can just click on, its one of the buttons below the reply text box under 'Instant UBB Code' (which is next to the smilies). Click on the bold button, and another box pops up that says 'enter the text you want to make bold'. I think you will find this a bit easier, as you described the code method as like having teeth enamel removed in another thread!
