I'm going for "John Wayne is big leggy" by Haysi Fantayzee from 1982.
Pour quoi?
One of John Wayne's big film hits was, of course, "The Searchers" (1956, I think) [ 30. March 2008, 22:08: Message edited by: Oscar the Grouch ]

And Bernard Cribbens was, of course, the "voice talent" for the Wombles TV series in the 70's.
So let's have one of their hits. I'm tempted by "Wombling Merry Christmas" but I think I'll go for that old crowd pleaser "Remember You're A Womble"

Michael Caine is an actor and so is Robert de Niro. So I offer you (courtesy of Mr D) Robert de Niro's Waiting
Ans sadly, I was grumbling for quite some time about the link between Cliff Richard and Vera Lynn. "I wish people would put their reasoning ...grumble grumble" "For what?" asks Mr D "What's the link between Cliff Richard and There'll be blubirds over the white...oh yes..." I said and slunk away.

Dormouse, it took me ages to get the Cliff/Vera Lynn connection as well! (in fact I almost posted to ask what it was).
From Robert de Niro it's an obvious move to 'I'm in love with a German film star' by The Passions.

Another link by Mr D (he's thwarted by The Real Thing on Radio 2 as he doesn't listen to the show live, and so can't join in. This gives him an opportunity to show off...)
Norwegian Wood by the Beatles.
Why? asked I. Because German/Norwegian?
Nothing so simple, I'm afraid.
Passion is a fruit. So is an apple. Apple was The Beatles' record label.
Hence something by The Beatles.
Why Norwegian Wood, I wonder (which I had never heard of). Well, maybe the link can just be German/Norwegian then...

OK, this might be a little convoluted (or maybe not)
In "Prince Charming" we have the words "Silk or leather or a feather Respect yourself and all of those around you " which made me think of a song I knew. After some humming I remembered which it was.
In Quicksilver by Renaissance we have the words "Once I saw you, leather and lace ..."
And so: "Quicksilver" by Renaissance. The link being leather.
ETA That was my link this time, not Mr D's! [ 23. April 2008, 08:51: Message edited by: Dormouse ]
